So the Great Inheritance Tour of 2012(tour tee shirts and other memoribilia can purchased from the on-line store) has moved on from Koh Samui to Phuket. The Dragon Lady and I have met up with some friends of ours who live in NZ and are on their first trip to LOS.We have checked into our new camping grounds, the Katathani at Kata Noi
The view from our balcony was none too shabby
Kata noi beach is one of the best stips of sand on the island IMHO. The Dragon Lady must be in agreement as she liked nothing better than dragging her pointy tail along the beach every morning.
As it was wet season the swell was up and my Antipodean friend and I got to go body surfing most days.On one occasion there was enough swell to take a board out for a surf.Nothing like wiping out a couple times to remind you how old your getting.
Looking back up the hill you can see the After Dark bar and the Rasta bar. These are two really great places right next door to each other where you can chill out with good food and a cool drink while watching the sun set.
This is view back down the hill
Sunset at the coconut bar at the Katathani. The hotel had several bars, five pools and several different restaurants so there is plenty to keep you occupied.
Well that's enough of camping grounds, onto the tourist shit. Our Kiwi mates were in Asia for the first time so we had to show them the ropes, how to shop, how to hop a tuk-tuk,how to smile 24 hours a day and how to relax.First stop Phuket Town night market
Oh and this man said hello in 12 different languages and assured us he could make the best and cheapest suits.Ha, the laugh was on him,Kiwis only wear jandals and Lion Brown tee shirts.
A couple of times we hired a driver and went on a Tiki Tour round the island.

The four of us ended up at some restaurant this day where I was served possibly the worst meal I've ever had. Can't remember what the place was called or where it was but most of the staff were ladyboys so if you come across this place, run.
Another day we did the Phi Phi island trip.I've been there more times than Leonardo and I have mixed feelings about the place, but the Kiwis and the Breather of Fire conspired to get me there one more time.If you haven't been to Phi Phi please enjoy the pics and if have been well Ihope you have good memories.
Tonsai Bay.A beautiful place but just too busy.A couple of days after this pic was taken a lady snorkeller was run over by a boat.
A week after this shot one of these boats capsized in rough weather.Like I said Mixed feelings,a beautiful place but needs regulating.
Even here Old Firey wanted to shop
The Old Bill
Maya Bay
Don't know how the mother in law found us
That's enough of Phi Phi,next was more nice tourist stuff like Phuket Fantasea. You have to hand in your cameras and mobile phones before you enter so you can't film inside. So I only have a couple of shots from outside. The Dragon Lady and the rest of the tour party said it was a good show with elephants ,acrobats, trapeze artists and fire works but I can't really say as I slept through the en tire show.
Once I was awake we took a trip to Bangla which did keep me awake.Opened up the Kiwis eyes as well.
Soi Seadragon, could be related to the pointy tailed one
Eventually the Phuket leg of the Great Inheritance Tour had to come to an end.Unfortunately the whole bloody tour had to be put on hold as well for unforeseen reasons. However it will kick off again in April 2013 starting in phuket where we left off and hopefully moving onto the Phillipines where we hope our Kiwi freinds will join us once more.Looking at Manilla,Cebu,Malapascua and Boracay.Anyway we wanted to finish the tour on a high note and as it was the Scaley Ones' birthday the four of us headed off to Mom Tri's Kitchen for a good feed on my tab.A great night,a great place and a great way to say goodbye to Phuket.
