Long term parking at Phuket airport

About the middle of last year there was a article in the local newspaper saying the airport authorities were going to establish long term parking at the airport in front of the freight terminal
We were last there in December and nothing seemed to have been done about it
Does anyone know if it is available now and if it is secure, its a real hassle trying to get parking in the current parking area with all the illegal taxis taking the bays or blocking you in

Isn't there a member on here with a resort(s) near the airport. He says he will pick up guests, so why not contact him. Maybe he has a spot or two?

Sort of correct. I sold the airport hotel last year and then build 2 new airport hotels, as covered in my construction threads.

Anyway, the long-term parking space by the freight terminal is accessible, and never really used because there are no signs to it and no security. So I would not advise using it for parking more than 1 day. (If you want to park for free during the daytime, then it is accessible from the airport freight entrance, which is the left turn before the main airport entrance).

The reason why the authorities are not promoting it is because it is sitting where the new international terminal will soon be built...

I do not have any long term parking at my hotel next to the airport, but there is 'informal' long term parking at my second airport hotel, - meaning that you can park in the rubber trees next to the hotel - others do this and there has never been any problems

It used to be like 150 baht day a few years ago. I imagine that's changed. There are usually spaces If you don't try to get too close to the terminal.
    I use taxis nowadays.

It was 50 baht a day and they increased it to 200 baht a day about 3 years ago
Even right at the rear of the parking area its almost impossible to find a parking bay and its getting harder all the time
