Whats great about living in Phuket

The climates great, rarely to hot and never to cold
    Good shopping centres and hospitals
Three live shows, movie theatres and bowling alleys etc
All types of sports are played
Restaurants as cheap as chips compered to Australia
Very central to travel to other holiday destinations if you want to
Food is not expensive here even the imported items
Renting a house is cheap and buying one is not expensive if you
take your time and shop around yourself
Nice beaches, if you go north of the airport even some deserted ones
which you can have all to yourselves
Not much crime where we live, i have not met anyone who has had there house broken into in our area
When i hear people who complain about life here i do not understand
    why they do it

You are kidding me right? Apart from December/Januari it's either too fucking hot or too humid.

Imported foods are way more expensive here than in the West.

Apart from the above I agree with what you are saying, but it might be good to take off your rose tinted glasses every once in a while.

Temperature is fine as far as i am concerned compared to Perth Australia i do not know about europe
Perth can be very hot and quite cold

You get plenty of fine weather here even in the monsoon season

Imported meats here are not expensive compared to Australia, New Zealand lamb here is cheaper than Australian lamb in Australia, the only items i bring back from there now is vegemite and anchor chicken salt, there are plenty of items manufactured here and a lot cheaper than imported if you check the labels

Phuket sure is nice this time of year. High season the traffic is a bit much around Patong, I like to get away.
The rate of growth here is kinda staggering. Trememdous influx of eastern european, middle east and chinese money.
Ranong is my favorite get away. For the adventurous types; the Takuapa and Kura Buri areas offer some nice unspoilled bits of Thailand.

We went to Bali last year and i had not been there for about 10 years and did not recognize the place completely changed, for the worst in my opinion
We spent a few days traveling went through Ranong and over to the east coast and back down that way not staying on the main road but the side roads plenty to see when you get of the beaten track and take your time to look around

    petercallen,

Do not be affected (or upset) by anything this load of anti-Thai ... people here say. You are not the only one who likes (or loves, and loves with family here) this lovely Country. Naturally there are bad sides and good sides to every country as you probably know.
Most of the anti-Thai crowd here have their reasons - "some" stranded here without the money to go back and start again (dream of it) in the good old country mostly (after their failure - and their attitude could be near explaining their failure at the first place), it seems.
We live in this country, we give to this country, we receive from this country. We live here.

You are just a troll , Thailand basher and loser who knows nothing about Thailand and Thai people except what you learn in a bar
I like having the same facilities here which are available in my home country whats wrong with that and they are available in Phuket and not expensive
Typical forum troll who sits in the corner and keeps his mouth shut when with normal decent people
