Almost seduced by a sexy new model

Just lately, whenever I've been out shopping, I've found myself looking at the sexy DSLR cameras. There they sit, behind the glass counter, shouting "Look at my spec, buy me buy me", and today I almost did.
So what stopped me? It was the realisation that I had a perfectly good Olympus OM40 and OM2 and an assortment of lenses sitting in a drawer at home waiting to be used.
So why should I change all my kit just to follow the latest trend of DIGITAL photography.
Are there any other Luddites out there? or am I the only one.

On my digital SLR I can shoot !SO 100, 200 400, 800, etc one right after the other switchng from shot to shot if need be. I have an 8GB & 2GB card and two batteries I can shoot about 700 shots. This cost me nothing I can then conrol the darkroom the crop color saturation and white balance and even blur or sharpen for artistic effect along with a myriad other tweaks that are only available to film shooters in a well-equipped darkroom.

You have an assortment of lenses for Olympus cameras, they will work with a new Olympus DSLR. Yesterday I shot three rolls worth of photos. I've uploaded them to my photo folder and will work with them at my leisure. I have three rolls of slide film undeveloped from over five years ago they got lost some how no point in developing them now is there?

I have boxes & boxes of photos, slides and negatives that are slowly losing their crispness and color. My digital shots remain crisp as they day they were shot. I was tempted to buy a film SLR this last time around but the realitiy is there is no point and too many advantages to digital.

Answer the shout, buy a the 510 body and use your lenses. You will shoot a lot more photos and that is how we improve isn't it?

you can try out adobe lightroom from adobe websites, its not a bad piece of software, of course you can then buy the copy version if you like it but it does help with making the most out of your images.

you can also buy a scanner if you have film and load the film onto the scanner then able to recreate the photo as the original might have looked, will take a long time with lots of photo's (could pay someone to do it, .......no in fact you should do it yourself) but least theyll last longer
im hot its so hot today.......milk was a bad choice!

FF, thanks for your comments. I didn't think about putting my old lenses with a DSLR body. You do make some good points about being able to play around with the photos without a darkroom, something worth considering, although I never did my own developing and tweaking maybe now is the time to try.
Benlo, I was thinking of having my films burnt to disc when getting them developed. That way, I could bring them home, load them on the computer and them play around with them.
I've not used my Olympus for a couple of years, but I'm off for a short trip to Roi-et today and the camera is already packed.
I think my interest in photography has just been renewed.

To copy your film to disc is only 50 baht, or at least that's what they charge me at my photo shop.

I bought two Kodak Gold 200, 36exp today for 90 baht each including developing, so another 50baht to have them copied to disc is a bargain I reckon.

JYY, I wish I could get that deal on the film as I pay 100b per role and still have to pay for processing. The 50b on cd is cool though for me.

I got the film/developing deal at the photoshop, on the LHS just inside the main door, at Zeer Rangsit. Not sure where you are Eliminator, but there may be others here that can take advantage of the offer.
I'm not sure how long the offer is available, but I was given two vouchers and they both expire at the end of the year.
