Icy deer display stuns photographer - and farmer too

The "beauty" of three deer making their way over an icy road was captured by a photographer in Derbyshire.
Peak District-based Villager Jim was on the spot to photograph the sight while out looking for a barn owl in the snow near Beeley.
The Eyam photographer, who posts his pictures anonymously, said he and a farmer both stopped in their tracks as the trio passed by.
The image has been liked by thousands of people on Facebook since it was posted on Tuesday.

He said: "I was bumbling along looking for a particular barn owl if I'm honest.
"I was on the back lanes on the moors in very icy conditions, when all of a sudden these three beautiful stags came running out of the woodland.
"What made it special is the farmer in his tractor had seen them.
"We both slowed to a standstill to watch the beauty of these guys on their way to the moorland."
    Shalom

Strange icicle formation spotted in Peak District

Image caption,A tree shrouded in icicles was spotted by a visitor to Winnats Pass

An otherworldly ice formation was captured on camera by a visitor to Derbyshire's Peak District.
Antony Newby was visiting the area near Winnats Pass on Saturday when he spotted a tree shrouded in icicles.
The area was not safe for the gym owner and drone pilot from Leeds to pull over, so Mr Newby drove on, parked and returned to the spot to capture the sight on camera.
"It was about 10 to 15 feet," the 53-year-old said. "I haven't seen anything like it before."

His image of the spectacle has since gathered more than 12,000 likes on Facebook.
"When I set off on a little adventure to fly my drone it was a clear sunny day, but when I got to the Peak District it was absolutely dreadful weather," he told the BBC.
"I drove around for a bit and spotted it on the side of the road.
"I had to park a bit further up and run all the way back. I'm glad I did."
Like many parts of the country, Derbyshire has been hit by freezing temperatures, with flooding and melting snow causing disruption.

Sure is, but if you want warm weather in the UK, don't go in January. Postpone your visit until June or July.

No guarantees are possible, I'm afraid. But to quote a well-known TD member, I think you need to harden the fuck up, mate.

You are an Aussie, you have no idea what real cold is. Weather you consider cold is still shorts weather to me.

Wow, looks intense. Nice pics though, Joe! It has been very cold here as well, even went to -20 with the windchill.
Our Rideau canal just opened to skate on which we will do tomorrow.

    They are right.

I don’t disagree. Though I did a year in Europe where it did get cold.
