Image caption,Adam Berry: "I love the way this image has a wow factor. It was taken free diving without tanks on a single breath. The scuba divers give a feeling of how deep it is, then you look at the bottom and see my friend sitting on the rock, that's when the wow comes in. To think he can go that deep on one breath gives a real sense of how far he went and what it takes. At that depth, your lungs are squeezed from the pressure and it almost feels like they are empty."

New Zealand: Bioluminescent waves at Auckland’s Orewa beach
    8 Jan, 2023

Bioluminescence occurs through a chemical reaction that produces light energy within an organism’s body, which in many cases would be plankton in the ocean. Not all plankton glow and those that do only glow sometimes. They usually produce a blue or green light that glows stronger through movement in the waves or if people swim in the water. Calm and warm sea conditions are usually needed as well, for the phenomenon to occur.

    The Nation, 25 February 2023
Any lingering doubts about Thailand’s tourism recovery were washed away on Thursday when the meandering Pai River in Mae Hong Son became a traffic jam of floating foreigners. The traffic of bare limbs got so congested that the river beneath disappeared from view. But the crowded conditions only boosted the festival mood, with tourists joking and laughing as they admired the views of nature.
A staffer at the riverside Rim Pai Cottage Hotel said foreign tourists usually show up in late January and February to float down this 2km section of the river.
