    ^Not my lawn Malmo

I get heaps of wallabies, who are timid sylvan creatures by nature, but rarely see kangaroos in the forest as they prefer the rolling open grasslands.

Friends in Melbourne went to see the 2021 Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition yesterday, on loan from the Natural History Museum London at the National Wool Museum, Geelong.

    One from Thailand features:

Wei Fu, Thailand. Clutched in the coils of a golden tree snake, a red-spotted tokay gecko stays clamped onto its attacker’s head in a last attempt at defence.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2022 winning images
    11 October 2022

The top prize for Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2022 has gone to Katanyou Wuttichaitanakorn from Thailand for his extraordinary picture of a feeding Bryde's whale.

The image, titled The Beauty of Baleen, captures the moment the whale surfaced, feeding on anchovies close to the boat Katanyou was travelling on. Intrigued by the contrasting colours and textures of the whale's baleen, gums and skin as it breached the surface, Katanyou caught this almost abstract image of the gentle giant.

American photographer Karine Aigner has won the Grand Title in this year's Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition with a stunning image of a ball of cactus bees vying for a mate.

The two winning images were selected from 19 category winners, which won out against some 38,575 entries from 93 countries to the fifty-eighth Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition.

Noumea, New Caledonia. Local authorities believe they captured the monster four metre shark (pictured above) that fatally wounded Australian Chris Davis on 19 February 2023.

It was the second shark attack in three weeks; 49-year-old teacher, Bridgette Do, lost her leg in a shark attack in Noumea, on 29 January.
