    Bye bye Flickr

I have been informed that as of 25th May 2018 Flickr is acquired by another photo hosting service named SmugMug.

SmugMug is of course a paid hosting company whereas Flickr is free. If I don't want to continue I can download all my photos and delete my account before 25th.

Whilst I am not a prolific picture poster I do like Flickr and the ease with which I can upload to it or from it. The fact that is is free is also great.

Anyone any knowledge of a similar (free) hosting service wich is easy to use and hopefully accepts uploads direct from a mobile and an iPad?

    I would appreciate any help.

You probably can stick with Flickr. If you go to their FAQ page they say that there will be no changes and you will be able to continue to use Flickr as before.

    https://www.smugmug.com/together/faq

What will happen to my Flickr account? What will happen to my Smugmug account?

Absolutely nothing. Flickr and SmugMug will continue to operate separately, just as both have been. Your SmugMug and Flickr accounts will remain separate and independent for the foreseeable future.

Both Flickr and SmugMug users will continue to log in with their current credentials and you will have the same experience you are used to. If things do change in the future for Flickr, we’ll be as transparent as possible about the process and give you as much notice as we can about the issues that will matter to you.

    That was a shame.
And they don't seem to be shedding any guilt behind these activities.

The pics are still there, you just need to know how to locate them.

Most of the damage was done by a praised so called free site called photobucket.

Even that has been more or less solved using browser add ons such as https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/fir...t-fix/?src=api

So, how do you locate them?

You're missing the point and even the bigger picture.
    Which shouldn't surprise.

At the end of the day, pics now posted on this site will stay here regardless of other links.
Photobucket was hailed as a wonder webite for hosting by many on here, it was a sham.
The galleries on TD are still there, just requires a few clicks.
