    What cameras do you own?

If one thing in life is true it is that you can never own too many cameras or waste too much time on the internet reading about them. You can even go out and take pictures too if you feel the need.

    Panasonic TZ-30
    Knockabout travel-zoom

    Canon S100
High end point and shoot with 1/1.7" sensor

    Olympus XZ-1
High end point and shoot with 1/1.63" sensor
    (similarish to the S100)

    Canon 1000D
I don't use DSLR for every day shooting but I need one for nature and sport with the 55-250 IS zoom

    Nikon V1

While I am pondering whether to go M43 or NEX for my MILC I thought I would get a V1 to tide over my purchase cravings since they are giving them away on e-bay

    Cannon IXUS 310HS

    Sanyo XACTI HD2.

The features on these cameras is out of the world. The cannon has a setting that will detect a smile and automatically take the pic.

    Ive got a nikon coolpix p 7100.
bought last year, love it. Lots of dials and buttons to fiddle with as I miss the shot.

A canon ixus, a tiny thing about six years old, fits in a shirt pocket, good for point and shoot.

A ten year old nikon coolpix 8400, wonderful piece of kit, electronic viewfinder, 24mm lens, time lapse, raw, still does the job, but being ten years old its a bit slow.

I used to have a full nikon slr set up, fm2, f90, f4 and lenses, too much really, I was never that good, but enjoyed the kit. It got too heavy to cart around, sold it when digital took off.

The fm2 was the best of the lot, stick on a 35mm lens and youre away. Simplicity itself.

Digital is convenient and immediate, but I miss the anticipation and the wait that you cant avoid with film or slide.

I dont do much with photoshop, other than cropping.

Canon 350D. A bit dated now but with a good lens it can take some nice shots and it is still way more capable than my abilities as a photographer..

I think my cheapo phone has a camera too, there is something on the back that looks like a lens but I have never tried it out as the phone doesn't play nice with my computer.

    Yes, but classic nonetheless.
Nothing wrong with old school except the applications to convert electronically [these days] are a bit of a hindrance.

Nikon Coolpix P510 42 times optical zoom

Nikon Coolpix S2500 (for fitting in my motorcycle jacket on a trip)

Olympus OM2 (A good film camera, which unfortunately is virtually worthless even although it's in great nick).

    Canon Ixus 80

    Lumix TZ-6

    Lumix GX-1

Not quite the full house you've got there Looper, but enough to cover all events.

    I've just got the GX-1 and it's a beauty!
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

A couple of mobile phone cams.

Some compact 7 MP Sony camera, pretty old but does make quite good photos.

And a Canon Eos 550 D with a couple of IS lenses.

The odd good shot with the Canon is more luck than anything else, but that is the beauty with digital for my part, just shoot and delete

A Canon Powershot A640 that cost me 14k but now won't focus properly and the battery cover is fecked after a few drops.

Bought the Midget this Panasonic DMC-S1 as it's got an idiot proof setting on it. Only she didn't turn the idiot proof thing on for about 6 months.

The latest addition to my stable.

    Sony NEX 5

    (Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Camera)

The embarrassing thing about this (apart from the fact that I do not need any more cameras anyway) is that the main draw of this camera for me is the supermodel skinny form factor of the body (which is kind of bogus since as soon as you stick the 18-55 lens on it it is no longer pocketable) and the matching metal lens barrel.

The NEX 5 has an APS-C sensor (same size as most DSLRs) so it takes great low noise shots even at quite high ISO.

But that is not why I bought it...

I only bought it cause it looks cool!

I don't even take that many photos - it is just another gadget/toy

    I think I need help.

I was thinking of getting a bigger sensor too, only having a compact it can a wee bit embarrassing sometimes ,,,, and considered upgrading to a APS /C too

    It's certainly bigger

but imagine been on the beach and two girls spot your sexy silver Sony camera shinning in the sun

girls one : ooooow lets go and talk to him . look at that long lens !

girl two : NO , he's only got a medium sized sensor ,,, but look over there , there's a man with a full frame camera , come on .

Twas only two years ago you said I would regret getting my Sony and that I should have got a Cannon ?

Well.....time has passed and I have to say that little Sony H20 has performed very well ............... no regrets at all.

That is a very astute observation Blue and that is why my favourite camera of all my cameras is the tiny silent matt black S100. It has a larger than average 1/1.7" type sensor and a bright f/2.0 lens for shooting undercover in low-light yet it is so tiny you will not believe it until you see it in your hands. Many a sneaky shot has been had with this stealthy little thing.

The NEX 5 is also available in black but you want this camera to be noticed not hidden under a bushel. Also the lens only comes in silver so a matching set looks smarter.

The S100 is so tiny that you would never dream of not taking it with you even if you are just nipping down the shop for some milk. So when you need that sneaky shot its always at your fingertips. The NEX 5 comes out of the bag on those other occasions when you do want to flash your gadget.

I have the Nikon J1, easy to use and has a rapid shutter action. It has a mode where it will take 20 continuous shots and show you the best 5 pics, where you can choose which one is best.

A great camera for a beginner or retard like me

i'm gonna buy the 30-110mm zoom lens to perve at the 5 star hotel swimming pool that my balcony overlooks
