Try pundaquit . Very close to barrio maybe 20.minutes plenty of restoration, good view of the Capones island. Did you get to the midnight rambler for a frosty yet?

^^^there are some nice enough beaches in Pundaquit. Or if you're feeling adventurous, you could hire a boat and go on a day tour (or spend overnight) in Anawangin Cove. You can hire the boat from Pundaquit and park your car in one of the resorts there.

However, I don't know if Backspin & wife are the camping/ roughing it type. They might be too sosyal (hi-so) for that.

I made a short thread of my Anawangin cove trip. Will find the link.
Short thread - Anawangin Cove + Baguio City

Edit: if you want something a bit high-end plus Instagram-worthy, you can try Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar. I've seen hi-so ppl go there.

Yep, sadly the Rambler is no more. AO found a YouTube of a derelict rambler and sent it to me. Damn shame. I loved that bar.
A mate tells me that the closest thing to it now is a bar called sloppy joes

The default farang mode here is American. Which makes it feel like Mexico. I prefer the British/ Euro farang mode in Thailand. The 50's diner aesthetic is boring to me

Karaoke has 1 purpose as far as I'm concerned. The idea is to get absolutely blootered ,belt out a few frank Sinatra songs to an acceptable level or if your shit at singing I did it my way, smile a lot buy lots of drinks and hope you don't get shot. Make it home alive, sleep like a log without even noticing the omnipotent rooster. That is how I roll.

You've mastered the karaoke in PH, BLD. You can also add to your repertoire "Green green grass of home" by Tom Jones.

My "go to" songs are "Baby One More Time" and "Sometimes" by Britney Spears.

@bonecollector - there's a Linasin Falls in the town of San Antonio, maybe 30 min to 1 hr drive from Subic/ Olongapo. From feeling more adventurous, you can also climb the mountain from San Antonio and traverse to the other side - Anawangin Cove. But then, from Anawangin Cove you must get a boat to take you to the main beach of San Antonio. From Anawangin cove, one can go to 2 small islands (I think 1 is Capones island).

The waters in Anawangin, Nagsasa and Silanguin Coves are also very clear, like in the pic of Backspin.

Yes, Tom Jones goes over very well in the Philippines I tried it one time in a karaoke in butuan city but nobody was throwing there panties at me. They did laugh a lot though. At that time when we were in butuan city which was our base my colleagues used to take me to karaoke bars every night. But after a while it stopped
While I was in the shower they would all hightail it leaving me behind. Later I asked them why they stopped taking me and they told me, Sir, you were hurting our ears ho ho was nothing personal. I had a snicker about that.

So,Backspin get your ass down to a karaoke with your wife. swirl a bunch of redhorse, buy a lot of drinks, refrain from singing I did it my way unless you can actually sing. Sit near the door if you can't. A pretty romantic evening could be had?

I haven't been drinking very much on this trip. Other than this 80% shit that the in laws made me drink

Then your not doing it right. I suspected you were a bit of a pussy. A lightweight. Cmon mate beer is about the same price as water , why would you wanna drink water? Are you sure your not a French canuck? That would explain a few things
