Living in Laos there was no big supermarket chains or Malls ( they got a couple of Chinese geared ones now) we used to jump in the car and hit udon thani for the shopping and a couple of nights to visit mates. That all all came to a halt during the last thai govt regime declaring only 2 x land crossings. Per year. So we had to stop going . Mrs tiz should get used to the idea of no malls soon enough. I know Philippinos love there malls

Well and truly retired now, and loving every minute.

Wednesday's are now spent exploring the Verde Passage with a few friends.

We sail out from Puerto Galera and find somewhere nice to throw out the anchor, then enjoy a swim, some lunch and a few drinks before sailing back home.

    Sure beats working !!

I'd probably reword that if you post on SoCal media but as far as bobbing about is concerned you can't beat hoisting the mainsil

Bantayan is a bit far for a few hours sailing at about 5-6 knots.

We are heading to Boracay on Jan 1 to meet some friends from Aust.
We'll drive down to Bulalacao and then catch the ferry.

Enjoy Bantayan. Its a beautiful island.

Enjoy Boracay, man, it'll be standing room only on the beach over New Years. I'm hoping the crowds won't be a problem on Bantayan.

Ever been to Guimaras island? It's right next door (island) to you. I went there via ferry from Iloilo City. I don't know if there's a ferry (Bacolod to Guimaras) but you could Google/ ask around. It's a lovely small island, great for a few days getaway. So far, that island produces the sweetest mangoes - something to do with the soil. It's their main crop. When I visited there, it was mostly locals but that was several years ago so things may have changed. Enjoy Bantayan island!

@tiz - enjoy your Boracay holiday! I think Boracay is great for a few days vacay but not for living. It's too small of an island (for me) and too pricey/ touristy.

Yeah, its not really somewhere that I'd choose to go to.
But we'll meet up with some good friends and then bring them back to PG for a few days.

The mangos we get here are from there and I've seen several videos about Guimaras, it doesn't appear to have decent beaches. I think there's plans in work for a bridge to be built from here to there then to Iloilo, so maybe one day. Where I'm looking at next is Roxas City.
