Weird PI News

I've seen some weird news articles here, so I thought share them as I see them.

Apparently the street lights here have solar panels on the top and people have been stealing them.

KAWATAN SOLAR LIGHTS?A lifeless man was found lying on his back on a grassy area with a solar light panel on top of his body along a road in Purok San Ramon, Brgy. Sta. Cruz, Murcia, Negros Occidental on Sunday morning, June 4.

A concerned individual notified the Police about the discovered corpse.

The deceased was identified as John Paul Caņete, a resident of Purok Gaisano, Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City.

The dead victim had several stab wounds, according to the Murcia PNP's investigation that is still ongoing at the moment.

There have been complaints of stolen solar light panels in the area over the past week, but the police are still getting to the bottom of things and are trying to verify whether the victim is one of the suspects or not.

The victim's family refused to conduct an autopsy and signed the Certification of Identification and Refusal for autopsy. The body was then transported to a Funeral Home.

One thing that is unusual here is that you can be prosecuted for adultery:

Adultery raps filed against woman, lover

    Weird PI News-adultry-png

A 39-YEAR-OLD woman and her alleged lover were charged for adultery before the City Prosecutor’s Office in Bacolod City on Tuesday, June 13, a police official said Wednesday, June 14.

Captain Melvin Mercado, commander of Police Station 8, said the woman’s husband, a policeman assigned at Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), sought their assistance because his wife was seen along Barangay Singcang-Airport with an unidentified man on Monday evening, June 12.

He said an entrapment operation was conducted along with the complainant that led to the arrest of the suspects, who were caught inside an apartment in the said village.

“It was the complainant, a police corporal whose name is being withheld, knocked on the door and we assisted him along with the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) to arrest his wife and her alleged lover,” he added.

Mercado noted that the complainant and his wife were married in 2019, but they are no longer on good terms for about five years and they have two children.

Mercado said the suspects, whose names are being withheld, are detained at the station’s custodial facility and they are willing to face the charges.

Probably named after the late Pope John Paul II, especially if he's 30 to 40 years old - the time when JP2 was pope.

I think the Beatles wasn't too popular in PH during the 60s because they snubbed Imelda Marcos (urban legend, can't bother to Google).

@topper - yes, adultery is against the law in PH. The woman & the cop are still technically married even if they're not cohabiting, since they probably didn't file for legal separation or annulment (it's expensive). The law will side the the cop on this one.

Reminds me of an event: my dad & I saw two women fighting it out at the street across our house/ gate. One lady was cursing the other, pulling her hair, etc and shouting - mang-aagaw mg asawa! Walanghiya! Haliparot!

Translation: robber of spouse! No shame! A harlot!

A few moments later (maybe barangay/ villagr officials) some people came to stop/ separate them. I was stunned. I didn't know that those happened in real life - I thought only in soap operas!

I had the opportunity to see it several times in Bangkok. The first place I lived was a big apartment complex and many guys kept their mistresses there.

^ BLD, there's been a ton of news about rebels fighting the army outside of town here. Once you get outside of Bacolod or Dumaguete is seems pretty wild.

Are there still NPA ? I recall.when i worked there in 96/ 97 in luzon we didnt have an issue with them so much mostly because we paid the " progressive " tax not to fuck with us . This simple agreement worked well until.a 16 year old ifugao guy with a rifle he stole from the cafgu shot up the helicopter containing potential investors for the already proven Didipio Gold and copper deposit. Killed the canadian geologist that was supposed to evaluate it. That project got put on hold for years as a result.. mindanao wasnt much different. Some fake npa and some real ones there all armed so gotta take em seriously initially

They're still very active in the mountain communities here. A mom, dad and 2 kid were executed in a village south of here a couple of days ago.

@bld - yes, the NPA are still active. In April, some mountains in Rizal province (which are just 1.5 to 2H SE of Manila) were closed off (for hiking) by the military due NPA activity. I think they reopened it to hikers after 2 weeks.

Last year, at a mountain in Tarlac or Nueva Ecija province (north of Manila), I think it was at Mt Kasahingan - before hiking, we had to register at a military checkpoint and was given a short orientation by a soldier. Hiking groups are not allowed to go there without prior notice & permission due to safety issues. My friend from Panay island (next island to Topper's) also said that they're present in thd mointains there. So yeah, they're still active all over the country.

    Here's one for ya...

CORPSE WAS REMOVED FROM THE COFFIN AND THROWN INTO CEMENT BY A DRUNK MAN

These pictures show the body of a man lying on the floor inside a house. This is the corpse of the late Gonzalo Espinoza, who was reportedly toyed with by a drunken neighbor. According to Aling Julita, the suspect suddenly entered the house while they were mourning the deceased brother. It is said that the drunk man opened the coffin, lifted the body, and threw it into the cement.

The family felt double the pain because the deceased was not respected even in his final moments. According to the police, Sanorias was arrested a few minutes after the incident. But the family of the deceased decided not to pursue a complaint against the suspect.

According to Sanorias' son, his father may have been possessed by a demon which led him to the act. This happened in Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya.

    This is for Simon...

A 31-YEAR-OLD woman died after she was stung by a box jellyfish while swimming at a public beach in Barangay Pook, Sta. Fe town, Bantayan Island, Cebu on Sunday, June 25, 2023.

The municipal government confirmed the death of Leslie Ann Madronero, from Valencia, Bohol.

According to reports, a couple who are both doctors and a nurse attended the victim and took her to the hospital so she could receive more care.

In an interview with the station DyLA, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office revealed that part of the woman's body had a swelling believed to be caused by a jellyfish.

MANILA DECLARES PURA LUKA VEGA AS PERSONA NON GRATA

Filipino drag artist Pura Luka Vega, also known as Amadeus Fernando Pagente, has been declared persona non grata in the City of Manila.

The Manila City Council unanimously approved the declaration in response to a video where Vega performed an Ama Namin remix while wearing a Black Nazarene-inspired costume. The city government considers Vega's actions reckless and disrespectful.

Manila is the fourth local government to declare Vega persona non grata, following General Santos City, Floridablanca, and Toboso.
How do you PNG a citizen? I wonder what happens if he/she sneaks in?

Strange way to 'hide' a body. Mind you - no stranger than using a wheelie bin in the house.
