TOo much rain is damaging the agricultute sector in Flipperville

Philippines experienced way too much rainful this year, twice than what was the usual norm resulting to poor harvest in the garden sector, failure in the rice sector in rice paddies (lowland) and upland rice farming.

Rice farmers in lowland farms have been sustaining losses upon planting via Direct Saving Method due to flooding. Ultimately, farmers have to replant doubling the cost of the initial investment from seedling, manpower, chemicals and fertilizers. The lucky lowland farmers who persisted and suceeded after the second or third attempt are now stressing over the fact that their rice crops which will be ready for harvest in about 2-3 weeks time have been drowned in the floods. The rains are also making it nearly impossible for the farmers to apply pesticides which will likely result in v poor harvest resulting to negative profit margins. Every Juan (every John/ everyone) is balls deep in the mud and scratching their balls in despair.

The upland rice farmers are cursing the rains as its impossible to clear upland areas and let it dry/bake in the sun before burning. A good burn will guarantee a good harvest and from the looks of it, the coming upland rice harvest season will have a
    poor yield.

Heavy downpours nightly at present in C Rai, we clear the brush below the trees of grass monthly, our gardener has barely finished and its already growing back and the new plot opposite has grpwn a lush lawn for the kids to play on in barely a fortnight. It is normal for April and takes the edge of teh 30+ temp and nice cool evenings.

I started a tourist thread but if missed can I ask the Flipper exerts when is the coolest time to visit, avoiding huriicane./tycoon season. etc. Happy to go anywhere there a nice little fishing village for a change, boat hire/rental or fishing trips with locals would be great or on a lake in the Mts. As a pork eater I'll give the muslim south a miss

Where did you look up that reference you fraud?

Why do you maintain this absurd fantasy Jeff.
You know you don't need to.
Why not just come clean and admit it's all a fantasy and then carry on regardless.
At least that way you'd have a semblance of respect.

    come on mate, come clean.

Its not v touristy but, a trip from Manila to Samar via Sorsogon/Bicol region by land then boat would be an awesome experience. You'll be amazed at the natural wild white sand beaches and the clear blue water. Most beaches haven't been developed but, if you appreciate a tumble in the wild with natural beauty, you'll love the hard edges, the cool sultry air on your face, the warm sunshine.....

Best time to visit would be around March to July. The seas are tamer around that time.

Same here... Some of my coconut plants started dying coz of the dry spell which lasted close to a month. (Planted 350 coconut trees around Sept time frame coz ran out seedlings during the onset of the rainy season........ Proved to be a bad call coz 50% are dying.) Maybe the rain will help... We'll see.

My custard apples, pomelos, durian and rambutan trees are flowering.... I am worried that the rain will harm the flowers.

Coconuts should recover but fruit tree flowers will suffer with early rain. Perfect here this year but last year early rain cut yield way down.

Ohh, crap. Its prolly not my year. 555 I do not usually make money from the fruit trees. The fruits I usually give away to coerce favor from friends/people.

So far, the rains have damaged the cashews.
