Heart Felt Thanks To The Td Pattaya Community

Five and a half weeks ago my family woke up to find our muban flooding and the water was coming fast. At 2:30 we saw the trucks coming to shut off the power and water and knew we had to go. I called a friend on the board Loy Toy and asked if he could help find a place for us. He simply said leave now and by the time you get here I will have sussed somthing out for you. We left at three and drove through over 20 centimeters of water finally getting on the expressway which was jammed with parked cars. 8 hours later through the traffic we arrived at Loy Toys house. Loy Toy was there to greet us.

Loy Toy the Hula Hoop king, and one of the most kind and caring guys I have ever met. He had Nedwalk and Eliminator at his house as well. Gave himself the flu taking care of us all. When we arrived a party was in full swing, it was 11pm and Larv, Eliminator, Nedwalk and wife were all there. We ate and drank until late. The first night we all took off for the Rendevous Inn, where we had beers and spent the first night. I was not allowed to pay for a thing. Then the next morning LT came and brought us to the new place. Larv walked up and let me know straight away whatever we needed he was there to provide. The beginning of a great new friendship.

By the next day he had sorted this place out for us.

Preparing cashew to take to a party at LT's place

The pool that came with the place

A few days later SEA Traveller one hell of a guy as well invited us down to his place in Ban Chang and what a place it was. The boys heading out for a tour of the area and the beach.

A shot of his pool and huge barbecue.

the two families happy to have such a living community as Teak Door, I mean very exceptional people all the way around.

Bruschetta, with fresh Italian bread, guacamole and chips.

The main meal, roast pork loin, seafood paella, mashed potaots, and potato salad

    The full spread after dark

Then it was Loy Kratong, not much to celebrate if your house is under water but we made do, the wife and one of my twins in the pool

Perhaps the biggest help of all and someone I am proud to say is now a good friend was the poster Larv. He was 4 doors down from me and helped myself and my family so much. Borrowed his bike daily, rode in his truck to parties, let my kids use his computer and printer, and gave us access to his barbecue. But most of all welcomed me with a nice tall whiskey every night at 5pm. My heart really goes out to you mate.

He is photo shy though so here are a few shots of a meal we cooked up for him and his lovely wife. First the steaks he provided.

the the prawns that we provided, and boy oh boy does he have a great barbecue as well.

The spaced out and shell shocked chef at work, but what fun on such a great barbecue.

Finally an image from the top of Pratumnak hill where we went to make merit and give thanks to all the people who helped us out in our time of need.

Thanks so very much to Loy Toy who got us the 3 bed 3 bath house with a pool, to SEA traveller and wife who opened up his house and gave me a tour of all Ban Chang. And to Larv who made each day as a refugee a better one.

Dont ever put Pattaya down, the members who live in and around there are some of the nicest people I have ever met. I have no family only old and close friends around the world. I am proud to have met each of these kind gentlemen and their wives and families.

    Thanks so damn much

    AO

Good to hear that you are back home and getting the house in order.

Having gone through the same thing (house flooding) I know exactly how you are feeling but everyone is safe and well and that is the main thing.

Just goes to show although we like to bicker and wind each other up sometimes, when someone really needs help the call gets answered.
I was though a little surprised, even disappointed that LT house was not a giant bucket.
In fact i only noticed a small one lurking in a corner.

Fascists dress in black and go around telling people what to do, whereas priests... more drink!

Mate its got a river that runs through it. Sadly on 9/11 a dam up on the lake above Pattaya broke and flooded it. But even with the construction he threw two great barbecues. Nice big pool and a guest house that has been renamed the love shack. Just really a lovely house. I kept saying the "host with the most" . So easy going he does not even like to accept the praise he so richly deserves.

Your point is well taken lots of shit fights and stupid arguments but when the chips are down a community that cares and comes through.

I very rarely bring my work home with me mate and there are intellectual property things to consider.

The 'extreme city' does indeed have many surprisingly normal people. You also fell in with a bunch of gourmet's.
What else can I say- you're a gem LT. I'll be down myself for a few days before Christmas, and look forward to catching up with some old friends.
Good on you for keeping your chin up through adversity, AO.

Well hell AO. Bloody nice of them.
It's not commonly known, but the only member of TD I've met was LT, and even though it was under kind of hectic circumstances he certainly came across as an absolutely sound (read fucking great) bloke.
So cheers to all invlolved there. I like a story like this.
Just wondering though AO, how'd you end up with a such a lovely wife as that?

Really looking forward to catching up with you and missus again mate.

It's been way too long between drinks and a good old fashioned natter.

Great thread, ao. I'd love to meet these guys too, but the chances of us (or me) getting back to Pattaya are pretty slim. You never know, though.

another thread has the pictures mate, both before and after. The house is pretty good, but the garden and yard are trashed.

Wow I am on my laptop, and cant stay logged in on the shitty thing. So I read through the first round as a guest. Normally I have Mao on ignore.

What a jealous whiny kunt you are. But after the visit down to Pats its great to know I am not the only one who thinks you are what you are. So petty mate, how many of my threads have you fucked up now.

But fortunately found my mistake as I could not post and you my young lady boy loving friend are now back on ignore. Sorry you dont have mates and live life as a young twerp on the net.

To all the rest thanks very much, if a favor and in this case a big one is given to me I am obliged to say thank you as are all decent human beings.

anyway..from my understanding..what about the silent minorit..fuck it i,m too drunk to spell..how is ELIMINATOR.. travelling..from my undrstanding, his situation was far more dire than yours mate..
c,mon ELI..how are you travelling?? i mean your missus was a legend too..with all that stress of your house..and then the curve ball of us barstards draggin you out here and there...i mean, my missus started nagging me, as you know, but after i had enough of her nagging and i zipped her to the fan, while we finished that botttle of CANADIAN CLUB CLASIC..it was all good till you turned the bloody fan on.. mate,, i gotta say, i had to do some sweet talkin before i could go drinking again with me mates again..ok i admit, i turned the fan down to first speed, and she seemed to enjoy it..well i thought so, i mean the noises she was makeing was sorta like when we had sex, but different from what i can remember..anyway...oh yea LT,S swimming pool...has nothing to do with what i was thinking about..i just lost my thoughts at the sex part..ok i remember now..

ELIMINATOR..how are ya mate..is life not as bad as you thought it was going to be???? what these barstards don,t know is..you were looseing everything..and you my friend were just going with it..like you said mate,,why stress about it, nothing you can do,,grea outlook, i hope life worked out for ya mate,,a heap of mates come in and scrubb your house, nice and clean..
sorry i could,nt be there to give you ozzie sweat mate

My house in Pathumthani flooded over 10+ feet deep inside. Glass double sliding door has all the glass pushed out. 8 downstairs sets of double windows all glass broken out. Custom curtains all ruined. (6) interior wood doors all rotten. Water pump ruined, electric gate motor ruined, metal gate all rusted to hell. Wood stair case completely rotted away. Suspended ceilings all fell down as water exceeded this. All lights broken and down from the ceiling. Western kitchen with built in appliances a total loss. Water was in the house for over 2.5 months. What once was a manicure lawn and garden, all gone. Trees gone. For me, this will be a total loss. The cost to replace everything is just not worth it for one, second issue is the same exact thing can happen next year. I do not believe there will be a solution to solve flooding by this time next year. Most of the neighbors are moving out as well. I have a second house that was dry and will stay there. The house will never sell as so many are moving because they know this area will flood again, so to spend 100,000's of baht to fix it is simply not worth it. Just plan to leave as is and move on. There is no sense to cry about it because what is done is done. There is no easy solution like in the west. Only live and learn.
