The naming of the road marks the completion of the 7.3 kilometer stretch of road that begins at the flyover to Bali Hai Pier/Pattaya Port at Third Road on what has been called Thappraya Road. It continues down past View Talay 1, Bruno's, Pan Pan, Foodmart, View Talay 2 and the Huana Man Statue at Papa David's restaurant. Then it goes straight past the Revenue office, View Talay Residence, the back way to Immigration Soi 5 and continues onward all the way to Chaiyapuk Road.
Printers will be busy reprinting the business cards for all the businesses that used to be on Thappraya Road, but now are on Jomtien Second Road without having moved at all.

You would of thought they could of finished it first before re-naming it.

An absolute nightmare and the Dog knows all about the curse of living there.

They even have sign posts up with the new name where the pavement will be going oneday, of course you wont be suprised to know that the base of signs are around 5foot 10inches high, the signs are above the whole pavement area, so expect a few cut open heads in the near future.

Found a photo on Pattaya Times.

^^^ Yep, saw the sign this evening and was a little bewildered.

The wife and I were trying to work out how long this section of road has been under construction.. our best guess is 5 years.

Hope the traffic lights and barricades at Theprasit intersection will be removed soon
Saw the Airport, Pattaya bus having make a 3 point turn and then a tight U turn to get to the depot. First time tourists would be impressed!

Err... not quite to Chaiyapuk yet..... still 50m of unsealed road and pot holes that swallow most small cars.
The potholes near to Panchalay are very bad too

Well this was from 2007 https://teakdoor.com/construction-in-...-drainage.html (Build your own Thai road drainage) but I believe they actually started about 7 years ago, 7 years to expand 7km of road, probably a new world record.

Yesterday I saw they were painting a zebra crossing very close to the corner of the turn from the Hanuman Statue to Jomtien Beach.

Having seen the knobhead driving at that junction so far, with speeding traffic on the real Jomtien Second Road, it's safe to say there WILL be pedestrian fatalities.

The other day I asked a Bahtbus driver why the traffic lights at Theprasit junction hadn't been switched on when the roadworks at that point looked almost complete. He just smiled and said "Corruption" !
    Some mistake surely ?

Sounds silly at first, but seriously, maybe it's been renamed to reduce the political embarrassment over how badly the widening project has been bungled and what a hazard it's been. Renaming the street starts the clock over; now Second Road Jomtien has been f*cked up for only a month.

I wonder how many thousands of needless injuries to motorcycle riders and accidents has been caused by the almost unbelievable stupidity and incompetence of leaving that street in the condition it's been in for the last 5 years?

Does anyone in this country actually stop for zebra crossings? It's just some style-over-substance bollix aped from "sophisticated" countries without the necessary training or discipline to actually work over here.

It's a Serengetti out there folks, c/w zebras.

Its actually not nor never has been Thappraya road, at least at the section where the sign is, from the Soi Thepprasit junction all the tabien baans/house papers say it is Jomtien Beach Road, ie your at the junction of Soi Theprasit, left is Jomtien Beach Road now named Jomtien Second road, and right is Thappraya Road.

Most businesses of course have used the Thappraya Road as their address as it is easier and the beach is 300 meters away.

The exact translation form Thai the English is "Jomtien Road Sai 2"
    That's a Transliteration, not a translation.
