    New ferry to Hua Hun?

Excuse the spelling. While running from a cop I noticed down south of Pattaya around the new Ocean condo tower a what looked like new sign about a new ferry.

I don't get down there often. Anyone have the details or was it a brain cramp?

I never stop at highway stops which are nothing but scams.

    Thanks. Nok

Travel times quoted vary a bit but 3 hours seems the favourite figure

This kraut has been talking about this for 2 years.
Originally when I spoke to him in 2008 I think it was, it was gonna be a goer in 2 months.
    Watch this space.

That boat doesn't look big enough for a smooth ride.

Does the three hours plus some transfer represent much time savings?

The sign looked new to me.

Any sort of casino or poker game on board?

As for the police, they often set up two and three man waving stops searching for farangs coming or going to Noong Nooch. Nothing but a scam. I always wear my helmet, no cause to stop me. Have run through them at least a dozen times over the years, they never seem to chase. They are looking for law abiding people who are scared of them and stop at a wave. Cheers. Nok

Get youself a nurses hat and put on the dashboardwhere it can be seen, when the cops pull you tell them you're off to pick up your wife who works (insert name of local hospital) they won't try to rip you off then.
My wife actually is/was a nurse and it works, I never got screwed over once with that one.
    It wasn't me!

Hope this ferry service lasts longer than the last Pattaya-HauHin ferry.

New ferry between Hua Hin and Pattaya

A new ferry service started last week between Pattaya and Hua Hin. This means you can cross the gulf of Thailand without passing through Bangkok. It is ideal if you want to travel from Pattaya, Koh Samot or koh Chang in the direction of koh Tao, Koh Phangan, Koh Samui and phuket. A ticket costs 1200 baht for now, but will be 1600 in the new year.

It seems like a very high price for a very little boat, imo.

I went on the sister ship last year. Very slow to be honest due to design faults. This design is based on a sailing cat. Originally it wasnt designed to have two large diesel engines fitted in it and the props didnt get any water flow around them so you went very slowly indeed. The back end of the boat has been lengthened - a change from the original design. Maybe someone who knows fiberglass can comment on the thoughts behind tacking on 2-3 extra meters on the back end of a boat and what might happen in big swells / high waves.

The sister ship is currently back in the Pattaya boat yard where it was made, after it broke free of it's anchor and sank in a storm in October.

It's pretty expensive, considering there are Mini Vans that only cost 400 Bath?? And the travel time is about the same....

Boat is a piece of shit.

I wouldn't fancy it in any more than a meter of swell.
