Pattaya for the first time. A few suggestions needed.

My sister with her man and two young boys would like to hit the beach for 2 days on their way back home after visiting me.

They have never been there before and either have I hence my questions! They are not big drinkers, and with two young kids in tow will not be going out after dinner.

Where do you suggest they stay? In a perfect world they would love a place with a seperate bedroom or at least a large place to give them space. Walking distance to the beach (on the beach is even better!) Not having western food within walking distance is not a problem. Budget would be around 2,500 baht per night.

How do they get there? I am assuming a taxi from the airport would be the go. How much should they pay? Do they go by meter, negotiate or book through a company?

    Cheers.

Mate I would suggest this place as I did go there regularly 12 years ago and just had a friend spend some time there and he loved it.

It is in a quiet location and about a 5 minute walk to Northern Beach road.

    East Sea Resort

A taxi from the airport should cost about 1,200 Baht and although there is a bar scene fairly close it is not too hard core.

You can pass on my mobile number to your sister and if she needs anything.

Heres a place recommended by Bexar county stud. I saved the link, for if im ever down that way. Just outside Patts, which is good if you have a young family.

cosy beach hotel is also okay if the Russians havent taken it over. It has a private beach you walk down to, two nice pools one free form as well. Rooms are nice and you can get connecting rooms. A small suite and a double would do ya fine, it fits into the budget. Its mostly away from all nightlife. Its where I always take the kids. About 5 minutes to Pattaya Park and the water slides as well.

Pullman hotel on North Beach. Clean (new) and kid friendly from what I saw. Lots and lots of families there when I was there in March/April. Kiddie pool and right on their own private beach.

Hawkers pass by but to sell anything they have to get you to leave that portion of the beachfront. NO HASSLES

Two pools and two bars, beverage outlets. Decent restaurant, you would never know you were in Pattaya.

Hi Nariad, nice recommendation but they had already booked when I rechecked this thread! They decided on the Rabbit Resort after looking at everyone's suggestions and spending way to much time on line looking at other places as well!!

So next question is...... Please give a suggestion or two for a place to take the kids. They are boys with energy aged almost 5 and almost 3. What is the best water park? What is the best indoor playground?

    many thanks.

    Gay resort on Dongtan Beach?

Some big new hotel up Wongamat that I can't remember the name of would be better... Surrounded by krauts up there though.

Seeing as you're bringing the kids, DD reckons theres a pretty good Toy show at Xzone.

Pattaya park is a bit rubbish, no shade, but a kids pool, some waterslides and food stalls, kids will love it.

Also they should go to the aquarium,

Btw: rabbit resort is an excellent choice.

    1. My kids always enjoy going to Nong Nuch Village which is one of the most beautiful botanical gardens anywhere in the world, has a small Zoo and really offers a good day out.
    2. Siracha Tiger Zoo.
    3. The Pattaya Crocodile Park.
    4. Central Festival Shopping Centre is a real nice place to take the kids and the food hall on the ground floor is worth eating at.
    5. The beaces down South around Sattahip and just before you reach Bang Chang are far nicer then the ones closer to Pattaya and Jomtien.

Sir Wlson *phew* Rawlins had me worried for a second then! I understand that the beach is a bit of a gay beach but they aren't into beaches that much so doubt it will bother them.

Thanks to the others for the suggestions - I have passed them on.
