    Pattaya This Weekend.

I'm off to Pattaya this weekend.

Sunday and Monday are dry Buddhist holidays, do the hotels/restaurants normally follow the rules and not sell alcohol or is it widely ignored?

Not sure we'll leave the hotel tbh if it's decent enough.

They wont be able to serve Sunday and Monday. Get some today and keep it in your hotel fridge.

I'm staying at a hotel in Bangkok tomorrow. They had a good deal on the club rooms. Gave them a call before booking and told me no booze served on Sunday/Monday.

Downgraded the room and will take a bag of beers and hip flask for the swimming pool.

Well, I just saw a photo on FB taken at the Trenchtown reggae bar on Soi Bukhao, last night. Buzzing- no social distancing going on there!

Dry weekend so no beer allowed. But luckily I have my trusty Loco Cola with me.

Oh, I'm at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Decent pool. Nice room. Expensive food.

2k-3k a night right now. We've got two queen sized beds pushed together so the 3 of us sleep nowhere near each other.

Couple of Thai floozys near the pool but I didn't get a look in even when breathing in.

There's a small kiddy pool and a decent place for the older ones. She's loved it. Played in the morning with an English kid and then with some Thai kids a bit later.

Pool is lush. Spent a fair amount of time in there myself

I'd like to see what morning looks like
Don't wanna drink pint after pint
I wanna wake up without feeling sick
    But I can't cuz I'm a drug-abusing alcoholic

    Very cool, Poo!

How many foriegn tourists did you see?

One thing I love is here in the PI, there are none of the silly rules about when booze is sold. Sure, there might be terrorists, volcanos, earthquakes and the more than occasional typhoon, but by God we can buy alcohol any time of the day or night, regardless of the religious significance of a holiday.

Twas doing the online "teaching" thing today and one of my regulars was in her car on the way back from a camper resort like the one you went to in Rayong. She said that was the original one and they opened one up in Nan and that after checking it out, she was on her way back home to pack up and spend the night with her family in a camper.

Well for a place nobody admits they like, Pattaya sure attracted a fair amount of my crew last wknd. Apart from Strongarm, there was a mother and daughter at the Hilton, a married couple at some nice place in Jomtien, and 6 at my darkside villa. Hope y'all njoyed!

Not many. Mostly Thai families. Spoke to one lady while my daughter played with her kid, who is also a teacher in BKK.

Found a great restaurant 60m away from the hotel so didn't get much further than that. To top it all off the roads seem clear on the way back to BKK.

The beach was also pretty decent. But nowhere to get shade from with all the deckchairs gone.

The restaurants were openly selling beer yesterday evening. Didn't think to ask at lunch unfortunately...

Pattaya is a fully functioning beach resort style destination. Fun for the whole family. Yet it never gets credit for that. It just gets labeled mongers central and that's that.
