I foretold a Brexit vote would hasten the demise of £, lead to a contraction in the economy, threaten the GFA and engender political turmoil.
a 3 week old baby with a nappy full of shit couls have made such an obvious prediction.

you need to look further than the end of your civil service issue pencil.

in 10 years time the uk, or probably england because the jocks will have shot themselves in the foot and the micks joined forces with their brothers in the south, will have a thriving economy.

and a prime minister does not need to be constrained by the mores of the ashen faced sanctimonious virtue signallers howling from the backbenches to do his job properly

There is no Retox Bar in Jontiem. The two they have left are Retox Game On which is on Soi Honey and Retox Outback which is on the darkside. The one on Soi Honey is currently up for sale with a 12.5 million baht asking price.

At least Retox raised the bar (or lowered it?) when it came to price competitiveness. But like so many before them, over ambitious- and other bars soon followed suit and competed. I had heard they were in deep doodoo before I left Pattaya 15 months ago. Maybe with a key location in Patt's, and the Darkside bar seems to do OK, they will soldier on in trimmed down form. Or maybe it will all go to shite like most other Pattaya bars. And then a new sucker comes along- rinse and repeat.

In my view been mongering since 1990 and following pattaya, retox tried, however looked shady from the start, once the novelty wore off was hard to continue, why lot fail, and when they started Poms exchange rate was amazing.

Got me stuffed how scooters still going owner must have deep pockets

I believe Retox Outback has returned 100% to the original owner and is called the Outback Bar once again.

Heaps of bars and restaurants which will not reopen including Moonies and Mary Lou's which was a very popular bar on Nung Plub Wan.

Also I note that there are many establishments up for sale and rent.

I didn't mind some of the dishes at the Retox. In fact, some were as good as anywhere in Pattaya. But I won't miss the tattooed slobs and petty criminal types who frequented the place.

Yeah lots of empty shop houses for rent in my soi now, am thinking of grabbing one if the are cheap enough and have it as a private workshop/mancave and maybe setup up the rooms upstairs for my Thaifriendly visitors.

A friend does just that, he has 4 neighbouring condos, 3 connected to live in and the sparsely furnished 4th for visitors. He says they come, look around, not impressed, know that best outcome is to do the deed and leave, which is the way he wants it.

I wouldn't mind living there in my condo days, top end corner + 2 for him, deterrent playroom for the ladies.

The image of the brit abroad has for far too long taken a battering thanks to these once cashed up cocksuckers and their toilet mouthed whores, thankfully heart disease, cancer, alcoholism and the punishing exchange rate is helping to cull this repugnant sub species out of existence.

The single greatest factor in this commercial denouement affecting the British pub style outlets is of course the Brexit devaluation of £ that has seen purchasing power reduced by 25% since 2015 when it was happily buying 54 baht but now 39 is the score on the exit door.

But in truth, the entire Euro demographic took a hit in 2008 when the bankster crash pretty well fucked most folk.

Fashions change but with the £ crash Thailand is simply not the bargain it was but the most discernible change in pattern is the absence of young folk - from the air headed backpackers to the lower end blue collar oik on his shagfest whoremongering two week binge, the young Brits have eschewed Thailand in their droves. In Euro terms, it is now solely patronised by grunters.

But it is not just Pattaya and God's Terminal Dementia Ward, Hua Hin, witnessing this, Bangkok's Nana/Patpong and Soi Cowboy are similarly populated these days by a class of punter who will never see 55 again. I was up around Robin Hood/Fitzgeralds/ Royal Oak/ Herrity's recently and the vibe was pretty much the same - happy hour clientele were grunters after which they became two-thirds empty. The places that attracted a more cosmopolitan crowd from all over the world all featured a broad spectrum of ages and were full at any time.

Retox was always destined for failure, serving a menu lifted straight out of the greasy spoon transport cafe playbook that was the mainstay of the lower class ageing blue collar oiks who are, quite literally, dying off without any replacement. And if the exchange rate was not enough, the recent withdrawal of income letters by the Brit embassy meant that a lump sum deposit of £25,000 + held for a minimum period of six months was the only route to residence and that has forced an estimated 20% of Brits in Pattaya alone to fuck off back to Blighty.

Certainly, if the wingman pranged herself or found another Sqdn. Leader, I'd be offski back to Europe quicker than the shake of a lamb's tail held by an epileptic Taff having an orgasm.

The thing is, once the grunters are gone, there is no-one else from the Brit demographic other than the working expats who remain and the two-weeker island/bkk/chiang mai mass market folk.
My first tour was as a backpacker in 2006. Then I was more of a working monger by 2009-2012. There was a ton of young folk from 2006-2009.

    What exactly are grunts ?
