Retox Group Announces It’s Halal Free

The Retox Group have put signs up saying their bars are now Halal free. My suspicion is that this is less to do with any animal welfare issues and more a gimmick to pander to the Muslim hating tattooed English chavs and Chang vest wearing Cheap Charlie’s who make up their main customer base.
I cant understand why a successful group like Retox would leave themselves open to accusations to racism and bigotry like this.

Maybe they're gambling that most of their punters are meat heads who will lap it up?

    Seems a reasonable bet.

Funny, even seeing the thread title those were my exact thoughts.

Calculated marketing stunt I suppose. The majority of their customers probably won't mind, others will probably revel in it.

On the other side of the calculated marketing coin I saw only this morning an article about Nike running a Colin Kaepernick campaign now (long story if you don't follow American Football, but he's the guy that started the whole kneeling during the anthem protest).

. No doubt they willl be delighted with developments. Their loyal customer base are already on the Retox Facebook page saying what a brilliant idea it is. This usually usually followed by the usual anti Muslim tirade.

. Rextox attracts a lot of English Hooligans who are very Anti Muslim. I very much doubt this move has been made in the interests of animal welfare

I don't know what Retox is.

I googled it and it's either a band or a hostel in Budapest.

Gary from what I can see,the Retox group are food led,and perhaps there customers don't like eating Halal food.

I for one would prefer eating in a restaurant/bar etc which doesn't serve Halal products, does that make me a racist/bigot.?

I thought Halal meant it's free of alcohol and pork, so why have it in a pub where the main sell is alcohol?

Also those poor animals have their throats slashed whilst still alive.

It's sensible more than anti Muslim and the Muslims will probably welcome it or not give a fuck.

Theres a road on the darkside of Pattaya called Noen Plub Wan which is mostly Muslim populated. Go three quarters of the way up that road and the Thais have whole pigs burning away, with the scent bellowing downwind to the Mussies

Of course it hasn't. It's a simple way to say "The guys who don't drink here anyway will not find food here, so chavs and rednecks can feel happy that they won't be coming in." without breaking any discrimination laws or norms.
Is kosher-free also an animal welfare friendly thing? Brave move to do that as it would instantly be branded anti-Semitic, which in some perverse way is the worst of the worst of all bigotries.

Not in NZ which exports millions of sheep carcasses to the Middle east. All the animals are painlessly electrocuted before the halal guy slits their throats. Technically alive, but totally unconscious.

I can imagine that the vast majority of Retox customers don’t even know what Halal food is. They just know it’s linked to Muslims so that’s enough for them to hate it. They wouldn’t have a clue if they were eating it or not.

Gotta wonder also, when and why were they ever actually not 'halal free' to begin with.

Gary OK understand your point, though maybe the management of the company just prefer non-halal meats being sold in there outlets,I know plenty of Chefs who choose not to serve halal meats, they ain't bigoted racist.

Saudi countries don't want to eat slaughtered meats, they want live animals, the British govt are coming under attack, due to there trade deal with saudi recently for live export when they leave the EU.

I'm sure you may find the NZ export of meat is not for Muslims.

I think someone needs to ask if their roasted gammons are halal slaughtered or if they just shoot a bolt through there thick skulls?

    Also known as.......

Not seeing the problem with Retox advertising they're Halal free, you're allowed to do that in a country like this. Well maybe there's some pesky law against it but nobody would give a fuck. It's not like bacon-dodgers will suddenly stop going to Retox group establishments now, I've never seen one in any of them in the first place.

You're arguing with an ex NZMAF Meat Inspector. Every single sheep killed is halal. You're arguing with a person from NZ which is a country of 4.5 million people and 40 million sheep. I spent years in the export meat works and I know what I'm saying is true. They trialled live sheep exports from Australia and NZ, but it didn't last long because the animal welfare crowd got involved.

i think halal also means that there is no cross contamination between halal meat and the utensils used in cooking and eating it with non halal meats and the utensils used in cooking and eating them.

that in effect means 2 kitchen and sets of utensils.

that a place serves halal meat does not mean that the restaurant complies with halal laws.

no true muslim would risk eternal damnation by eating in a pub that serves pork, bacon and alcohol alongside "halal" lamb kebabs etc.

    Want some 'whoosh' with that?

Of course a pub boasting that it isn't halal is not aiming for muslim patrons.

    Duh!

oh do stop it snivel, you pedantic old loon.

whilst the vocabulary might be a bit mangled, the meaning is perfectly clear, and that is all that matters when communicating with others.

its a pity that those who purport to teach english spend so much time on the ridiculous intricacies of punctuation and grammar, and not enough time on the vernacular.
