Interesting....I've just received an email stating that flood insurance isn't offered in Pattaya. So all you farangs with investments in houses via "company" or your now ex-wife's name are really screwed(no pun).

Schools closed early yesterday, Thursday, but open this morning, Friday. Having said that, I was told it is supposed to rain again today(Friday) but it isn't now, as I sit here in South Pattaya needing to run some errands including going to the bank on Pattaya Tai. I also have my worries about the Soi Bouikow Friday Market which is a prime fishing zone for me, and I mean fish that blink.

    Wow!

I had a two year old tree topple over due to the weight of the seed pods on it coupled with totally saturated soil. Got 'er back up with some tie-down ropes. Hope today's rain doesn't do any more damage.

This was a large branch of a spirit tree. Fell from about 30 ft. Clearing away on the go now then I'll reassess for any further action to be taken.

Some varities of trees can't take prolonged water saturating their roots. I lost two mature Jackfruit trees during the last flooding. Shame too as they are good-looking trees even w/out fruit on them.

Best of luck with your Spirit Tree, toslti

Knock on wood, no real flooding here where I am. Just hard to get to the store with all the rain. Wish I had my truck back. 555

Steady light rain for days here. Normal stuff. Floods very rare in my area. Cool and comfortable. Best time of year.

Mabprachan reservoir has filled up nicely Road around it seems not to have held up too well with a few parts next to it disappeared.

    That is rather extreme.

Seems that no one has died because of them though so that is a bonus.

Interesting. A work collegue had water go through his house and the insurance assessors have already been to inspect and the claim is being processed.

Who was this email you received from ?

A friend who should know as owns a house. I'll send him a follow up about it and advise. Note...He paid cash for the house, no financing. Do you know if your colleague has a mortgage on said house?

    Just called him Nok.

Yes his house is financed (new build in new village, house built oct 2014) and he specifically requested flood coverage with the insurance as it was not included in the basic policy.

Just spoke to a contact in Pattaya who told me he is covered for flood .

Obviously up to the punter whether he paid the extra for it.

    Normal Insurance stuff.

Flood insurance is not a problem, providing it's covered in your policy obviously. No idea where the theory came from that you can't get flood cover in Pattaya...

Jezuz there's been some amazing photos and video footage come out over the last few days of just how bad that flooding was, a lot of people who've been around a very long time are saying it's the worst they ever saw. It's hard to believe there's only 1 fatality that's been reported of some poor guy getting drowned up in Naklua. Our power never went off in Jomtien, don't know about the rest of town, but if there's 2 things that don't mix well and make a deadly combination it's electricity and water.

Any of you Dark-siders had a look at the Lake since the rain?. Is it looking a bit fuller now?.

Yes the lake filled up nicely but some of the roads around it did not fair well.

The local council did really well last year when thy built the land up beside the road which stopped the water draining into the lake. I'm surprised there wasn't more damage to the road around the lake.

I saw that the Lake Side 4 estate lost the garden walls on the lake side.
I would post pictures but life's too short.
