real cool beach pics. like them
Nice thread BL haven't been to samed for quite a few years.
Last time we were there early one evening a tourist rented a motorbike.
We were sat drinking, the guy handed over the money put on his crash helmet started the bike full throttle put it in gear dumped the clutch, the bike reared up he fell off the bike and it wheeled through a 7/11 shop window.
I pissed myself laughing.
Fascists dress in black and go around telling people what to do, whereas priests... more drink!
Yet it remains SEA largest brothel with a shit filled sea and a scam on every corner however differently some want to spin it. Last time i went to Samet was in 1994, changed a bit!
Lived here since the 90's and have never been scammed. For sure some people do get scammed, as the same people would anywhere else in The Land of Scams, but with just a few braincells worth of street smart in SEA on-board you're in no danger at all. What dumb tourist rort did you get ripped off by Dragonfly?.
And while you're at it, please tell me where I should move to from Jomtien to live somewhere that meets your approval. There are some parameters that Pattaya provides which must be considered in my case though;
Sea view condo.
20+ golf courses within 20-50 minute drive.
Ease of getting around (must be able to be anywhere in town within 20 mins).
Uncountable restaurants ranging form greasy spoons to fine dining.
Excellent health care within quick reach (my GP is Swiss, my Dentist is German).
Central, Foodland, Villa, Friendship, etc, all within easy reach for imported groceries.
Uncountable places to have a drink (both obvious and hidden from tourists) ranging from live-show to family oriented sports bars.
1.5-2 hr drive max from Bangkok International Airport.
Don't say Hua Hin for fucks sakes, but I'm dead keen to know where you suggest suggest as a better place to call home. Price is no big issue.
Exactly mate ^ if your happy , which you obviously are , why do you need others to advise you how to run your life better .
Never fails to amaze me how some generalise on so much they post
i.e. this place is a shithole , that place is a shithole
I,m sure if it was that bad you would have already moved on
We are all different in our likes and dislikes , so your never gonna have a one size fits all scenario ,, can you imagine if Cha am was the hotspot and everyone moved there ?
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs
If you are referring to Dr. Olivier Meyer then I would have to question his abilities, not least because of his evident quackery concerning the " andropause " and the need for " vitamin infusions " which is not entirely dissimilar to snake oil salesmen peddling panaceas to the gullible and ignorant.
Hardly inspires confidence, does it?
^I am referring to Dr Oliver and in the many years he's been my (and Mrs Worx's) GP he's never tried to sell us on anything "questionable". I can't speak for his other patients but he's been fantastic in my opinion, sorted out some problems that have made my quality of life 110% better (Hypertension and Gout come to mind, if BP Hospital GP's had their way I'd still be having ridiculously expensive tests done with many more follow up visits needed).
Yes Dr. Oliver is very respected here in Pattaya.
Don't listen to The Gent as he hates everything and everyone equally and knows Fuck All at the end of the day.
I hear ya, Mike. I miss Thailand too! (I mean, I am not purporting to be "Miss Thailand", I mean I long to be back there na ka...)
i thought that medicine and dentistry were restricted professions here, prohibited to foreigners.my GP is Swiss, my Dentist is German
^Nope. In both cases they had to pass all the Thai exams (which are all in Thai of course so they're both fluent in the language). In the case of my Dentist, I believe he's the only Farang licensed to practice in Thailand and they made him jump through hoops to no end before there was no other choice but to give him his credentials.
^BLD there's a lot of people who suffer both and with some (as in my case) there was a connection between the two. I'm about to go to golf but will PM you a long and boring, but hopefully helpful, message later today.
Got your PM mate, cheers, great info.
Could you let me have the PM also.... I very occasionally suffer from gout but mainly because I take alupurinol 1x 0.6mg every day. My hypertension is also controlled by medication and would be interested in other methods....cheers
(Oh, and I live in Pattaya and like it)
Thanks for the PM Headworx!
Could you also send me some info Headworx as Jizzybloke is staying with me at the moment and he suffers from gout.
Thanks in advance.
I think the individuals concerned have PR and are both fluent Thai speakers who have qualified for registration in their respective professions.
Get weaving Tax and you too might be able to hang out your shingle.
" Tax Dentist, Hua Hin - life is pain but we can make you grin and bear it! No procedure excluded ( anaesthetics extra )."
Look, he may well be an excellent GP and from the varying testimonials I should imagine he is a sound chap and his skills well honed but the fact is, he is generating income from his treatment for the " andropause " and from vitamin supplements which as anyone in the medical profession would tell you is total bollox.
I wouldn't down a chap because he wants to make a penny on the side from stupid and ignorant folk but as a matter of common sense such quackery does not instil confidence.
You are somewhat blinkered, aren't you?
^^^ A quick piece of homespun advice for the jizzmeister. Drink a concoction of bicarbonate of soda (aka baking soda), and water at least twice a day. It's actually available in sachets, about 5 bht, which is quite convenient. The alkalising effect gets to the root of the gout.
And do not indulge too freely in the bacchanalian pleasures Pattaya has to offer.
Gent, you couldn't be happy in a free brothel.
Gout is a form of arthritis. Treatment is threefold: pain management, reducing the presence of uric crystals and the maintenance of a dietary regime avoiding purines present in some meats, seafood and some forms of alcohol viz, beer and stout.
It's a bugger but one must always keep an eye on kidney function so regular trips to the GP is wise during bad flare- ups.
