And which suburb is that Tax?

There is only 1 Pattaya and thank fvck for that.

And I am referring to the area west of Sukhumvit and meandering down to the bay shoreline. Horrible, horrible place and set up mainly for foreigners to indulge their evil ways.

I drove through the city yesterday and for a meeting in Pratumnak and the stench on the street was absolutely terrible. How people can holiday in this area is beyond me.

Anyway I can see Pattaya skyline from my bedroom window and out here you can hear a pin drop.

Great little bars/ restaurants and pubs with a good mix of expatriate and local communities with every conceivable family use facility close at hand.

There is talk about a new Pattaya City being built with land already being developed and lets hope they leave the shit over where it is now and don't pollute what is a pretty nice place to live.

any one of bangkoks suburbs, with the cracked and blocked pavements, the discordant architecture, the electrical cables, the mess, the noise, the motorcycles, the hawkers, the dogs, the rats, the garbage, etc.etc.etc.

ive no doubt its more peaceful outside the city. we had 2 nights there, and it had absolutely nothing to offer, apart from the hotel which was excellent.

we did eat well, but then again, you can eat well just about anywhere in thailand. if i was single and looking for a boozy whoring holiday then my attitude might be different, but considering it is thailand, there was little there that was either exotic or welcoming.

like its women, pattaya is worthy of nothing more than a quick in and out.

I was over yesterday mate for a quick chat with Nigel at Drop Inn Bar.

He was harping on about sausage rolls or somefink.

Got pulled by the filth on the way to Baan Saray as well, old style UK driving licence combined with passport not enough.

    Twats.

That is one thing I have noticed, there is a distinct lack of them at present.

You are such a romantic tax! I refused to go to 'Patters' the other week with the mrs and her friends, I loathe the place. They are all off to Hua Hin Friday so I'm up for that as far nicer memories of that place.

hua hin is ok, its very quiet though which doesnt suit some, and its usually deserted by midnight, although it is busy at weekends.
and as yet, it has not been infected with a large russian presence.

    Was it a katoey mate?

I thought it was just some super tall chick with huge hands and bigger feet who had eaten an apple for lunch was still digesting it.

I by passed the Big Buddha and went further up the hill to the Naval Base look out.
There the view is of both Pattaya and Jomtein.
Looking out towards Jomtein I saw a tall concrete tower, with cable cars running up to the top. What was that all about, looked scary.

Sounds like Pattaya Park, worth a visit to cross it off your Thai bucket list.

There is a new one on the road down to Baan Saray, however it still looks in parts like a building site.

There is a new Water Park just opened on the 36 highway not far from Bira race track.

From all reports it is far to expensive at 600 baht entrance fee, is a mud bath if it rains and is an accident waiting to happen. I think I will give it a miss.

There's another place as well - a kind of Its a Knock Out water park as well, or in American parlance, WipeOut. Looks like a death trap to me.

Been to the Big Buddah myself a couple of times. A nice change from Central Pattayas other delights. Seperate, and to the left of the Big Buddah, theres a Chinese Temple thats also worth a look.
