What to do? Attempted break in and I think I know who did it....

Yesterday we had the aircon serviced and also a couple of likely lads from True Vision around installing a dish and set up.

This morning at 2am, my brother who is staying with us at moment, awoke hearing a door leading to his bedroom being rattled from the outside, looked through the window and saw a little somchai who run away, jumped over the wall, into a pick up which sped away.

I went out with the hounds and a bat by they were long gone. I believe 100% it was the True visions guy for the following reason. The aircon boys were in the room he sleeps in, would know the door has a big fuck off chain on the inside, and machete next to it. They saw the dogs and were told if they get out to run as they will rip their throats out. They also saw his crumpled bed sheets, and all his kit in the room.

The True guys did not see any of this, but would have seen from the outside the door which looks easy to break into (hence the chain). The dogs were locked up and sleeping when they were there, and never entered that room.

    So what should I do?

Unless your 100% sure and with proof of identity nothing.

Just let this experience be a warning not only for you but all Teakdoor members.

We are all targets so get proper security.

It's worth loosening a connection on the cable TV and asking TRUE to send the same guys round since they were so good.

When they arrive just allow them to hear the dogs and tell them the dogs got a scent of someone who tried to break in the other day and make like you are about to take them for a walk.

You will soon know whether it was them or not.

You should go to true visions office and wave that baseball bat around, that'll stop them coming back.

    1) Make sure the door is not just secure but also looks secure from the outside.

    2) Consider moving out of Pattaya if you need ravenous dogs and machetes around to feel safe.

I'm sorry but I could never live somewhere that meant I had to have bars on the windows, chains on the doors Machetes sat ready for use next to said doors and a vicious dog ready to rip the throats out of anyone in the garden for whatever reason.
Treat everyone as a complete and utter idiot and you can only ever be pleasantly surprised !

I worry about this a lot due to working away, tighten up your security around the houses.
pay them a visit and just stand and stare at them, inform UBC that you had a break in after they were at your house.
If more issues use violence or pay someone to do it for you, some times it the only thing they understand.
Thinking on that I might install a siren inside and out side with a button by the wife's bed.

I am very tempted to do this, but I imagine I would get the standard brush off from them. I wonder if there is a way to see if this is a trend?

I went out and got 4 flood lights with censors, three internal motion alarms which are really loud. Got a couple more baseball bats and feel comfortable that although it was likely a one off opportunistic attempt and will not be back, if they do, I will see them clearly and catch them on film now. If they get in, they better have good night vision because I do, and will be at them with the bat relentlessly.

Its a shame. I feel a lot safer here than I ever did in Bangkok but then this happens which although is in a way, nothing, me and the missus are certainly unsettled and its starting to disrupt plans (travelling for work will take a back seat for a while). She is in the process of getting her gun license, but I don't want a gun for protection because if I felt I needed one, we would leave.

I would be interested to know if other people who have had True round around a time they had an intruder or attempt.

I like this idea except for the fact that right now I am so wound up by it all, that I am likely to start it with the shit bags ad lamp them with the bat.

Funny how no one has suggested or asked "did you call the filth?"

Is there anything on display (that wasn't obviously removeable at the time) someone would want to come back for?

    One off - ok.

If it happens again, best to find out the intention - robbery or other.

And if it's regular, get a gun. When in Rome and all that.

Should probably have some tactful contact with the company...

Previous suggestions of attempting violence are ridiculous...

What a lot of subscribers to TRUE don't realise is this, True can use your tele set to view the inside of your home.
    A TRUE web cam.

^Are you serious?. What web cam is there on a tv or TRUE set-box?. None on either that I know of.

Gilbert I had a couple of TRUE guys over for an installation around 2 weeks back, no kamoy problems since but we live in a condo.

Don't be daft -last thing I want is them poking around looking for a hand out. One of my clients who is a one of the Chiang Mai based HiSo brigade offered various solutions which included that they could instruct the police to investigate "unofficially" which would mean that they would solve the problem the old fashioned way which was tempting unless it was not the true boys at all and they both ended up swinging from trees, or worse still, the filth think I owe them more than the bribe it would take and keep coming back for more.
