Indeed - I saw that as well, near the Taxi stand thing where a few innovas / old camris sit rusting whilst the somchais lounge around drinking waiting for a farang to pay them 3000 baht to get to walking street.

Is it a Gogo Bar though or more like other places on the dark side such as Top Whatiscalled bar by the 7/11 on Nurn Plub Wan, or the golden gate? Looks a little more like them and can hardly see that this new joint will ever be busy, every have more that 4 disinterested ropey old skanky rejects from beach road for it to be a gogo.

The location will put most people off going there - far too many local lads on the make loitering around there to be comfortable. One would guess that is will turn into a Karaoke late night loud place for the cops and robbers to hang about it.

Has Dave rebought the Rendevous bar, by the way? Had some food from the Dark Side and it was delivered there by bike from the Rendevous which was a bit daft as I live closer to there and was getting a take out!

I think he still has a share but the chief shareholders are another Dave plus Khun Na, Dave Vics ex-wife. Or more to the point the bank still has title but I believe all payments will be made in the near future to take over full ownership.

By the way the best take-away food around the lake can be purchased from Nigel at the Drop In Bar.

Damn right about that! I won't go into the harrowing experience we had there for a sunday roast a week before xmas- some thai bint running the show who made a right cock up of everything for a roast dinner.

Ok I will go into it.

No wine at all. None.
Starters came, prawn thing, followed about 3 seconds after the starters were dumped on our table by a bowl of overly watered down campbells soup with rock hard artificial garlic bread. Cold.
Main roast arrived about a minute after the soup arrived which was stone cold, and no roast potatoes even though they were on the menu. We at this time were still eating the prawns! It all got too much for me to bear when the woman cam over and asked if everything was OK, and I replied honestly that no it wasn't. She then tried to tell me that roast dinners were meant to be served cold!

She then stood there, literally creating an argument with me which forced me to point out that everything was cold, what wasn't from a tin, can come from powdered form (mash and gravy), that the service was dire and there was not enough room on the table for out drinks with all the food piled on it and lastly that she had no right what so ever to run a restaurant because she didn't have a fucking clue.

That was it for me. We stood up and walked out and told her to stick her bill up her arse. No doubt, some other poor schmuck got our food scraped onto their plates.

That lady left though I think, and the food I had there recently was not too shabby, if a little meagre (sausage and mash - I've seen more potato stuck in a packet of doritoes that was given to me!)

Dave from Birmingham took over about 1 month ago and is having a nightmare trying to get the whole resort back up to scratch.

It's such a shame as the resort has so much potential but is being fucked up by stupidity.

Anyway he is improving it slowly and hopefully things will be back to normal soon.

I had a few chats with that Barry bloke about potentially taking on the restaurant part. In the end decided against it. The real problem with that venue is the bar next to it. It would benefit from knocking the wall between down and incorporating the bar into the bigger room, a bit of remodelling, and it would work, even with the hollering bargirls all around the place. It is trying to be a little upmarket though, but it is basically a box room with a loud bar next door (sometimes) so it will be a struggle.

However, the food is good now, so people will go I hope.

For what it's worth, I was going to turn it into a Rib and Crab shack; small stage for a 3 piece blues band for weekends, and jugs of cold beer to wash down natures finest.

You have also pin-pointed most of the problems and he needs to either turn it into a knocking shop bar or something and as you have suggested.

To be fair there are a lot of outside influences which are making it impossible to run the place smoothly.

Once there is one sole owner things will improve.

Anyway, one owner, one direction. Get the doors shut, the aircon on, punch the walls out, projectors screens for sport, beer cold and cheap, stick the girls in a uniform that is polite yet boner worthy, consistent food and throw out the Thai stuff - simple menu and job done. the menu they have in there now is OK, but aside from Nachos and Chilli, all else can be found in all the other venues around the area.

Oh... and turn the bloody lights down a notch!

But they need one owner, or at least agree that the ownership can be shared, but the running of the place is not. Recipe for disaster in shared ownership is one half demanding cost cuts without realising it will kill the business.

He's a decent bloke. Don't know the ins and outs of his departure as haven't spoken to him in 6 months + but I guess he's struggled to make a go of things out here. He'll be a great dad, and best place for the nipper I reckon.
