    Good eatery update thread.

I've got some family coming over for Christmas so no doubt we will be eating out 90% of the time.

Rather than run the gauntlet of bad experiences I was hoping for some updates on where is good for food nowadays.

For dinner I usually stick to Cafe De's Amis as I reckon the place is the absolute dogs danglies and we are booked for Christmas dinner there.
Going there once a week is great but obviously 6 days a week would be a bit much.

Mantra is another place I like for dinner.

    For breakfast/lunch I like,

The Coffee Club, as long as it's not packed with tourists shouting at each other.

The Sportsman, good food and I get to beat my Dad at pool too.

The Pig and Whistle, I used to love the Friday fish and chips special, until I went veggie tree hugger.

The Loft, a good mixture of all types of food and somewhere for the kids to play. I was gutted when they shut the Indian down though.

So Pattaya, where else i good?
I would post pictures but life's too short.

I'm in the same situation as you Kurgen with family visiting for their first time then and have been giving the same topic a little thought of late trying to think where they might like. Here's a few places that come to mind so far that I've been to before and would go again:

    Breakfasts and/or casual lunches:
    Caddyshack.
    Shenanigans Jomtien.
    Coco's.
    Aroi.
    Jamisons.
    Cucumber.
    Sizzlers.
    Coffee Club.
Route CC (for a great burger and fries fix).
    The I Rovers.
    Robins Nest.
Mantra (but only on a Sunday for Brunch)
Camel Pub (Ban Chang, but it's a nice drive out through Slilverlake and Buddha mountain getting there).
The Italian restaurant at sliverlake who's name eludes me right now, but the food is good.
    Dicey Reilly's.

Dinner at decent to upmarket venues:
    The Grill Room (Royal Cliff).
    Casa Pascal.
    Mata Hari.
    Manhattan.
    Cherry's.
    Cabbages and Condoms (Thai food).
    Toscana.
Seafood at one of the beachfront restaurants in Bang Saray.
    Brunos.
    Blue Olive.
    News Cafe.
    New Orleans.
    Flare at the Hilton.

Maybe some others will also chime in. As you know it's simply impossible to keep track of what's opened/closed/gone bad/has raised their game in this town.

    Thanks Header.

I went to Sizzlers about 12 years ago, never again. Got really ill.

Bruno's, nice food but I was scared to even whisper so I swerve that gaff.

The 1 Rovers, never heard of it, where's that please?

Casa Pascal, I haven't been for about 10 years. Is it good?

Blue Olive, I've been wanting to try that for ages, any good?

Toccino's over here on the darkside is well worth a visit btw.

LK Metro. It's a sports orientated bar with a good little menu of pub grub. Great breakfast too!.

Sure is, very nice place for dinner. They do a buffet brunch as well but it's cheap and deserves to be.

Absolutely. Very good food, excellent service, and the Expat owner/chef is always on site making sure the customers are happy. Highly recommended and I'll be taking my visiting family there for sure over X'mas. It's not open for lunch though which is a pity....

Is it owned by the same guy that has Toccino's on Beach Rd?. Where is it roughly and is it open for lunch do you know?.

I just checked their web site and it appears I spelt the name wrong.

    Map | Ticino's - Pattaya

They don't do lunch according to the site.

Had a Sunday lunch at the Players Lounge this week (darkside), probably one of the best I have had in Thailand, food was served hot and tasty. Small Lamb Beef or Pork 199 Large 245.

Jumbo I'd never heard of the Players Lounge but just looked at their website and it would appear to be exactly the sort of place we like to stop for lunch after playing golf out that way, so thanks for the heads-up. Coming from (say) Siam Plantation heading West on SCC road do you turn left at the lights and it's on your right?. And one more question for those who use Garmin, do you find that road mapping is rubbish for the smaller Sois on the Darkside?.

I watched the firework display from the 34th floor of the Hilton last night.

A great setting but the service was poor and the food wasn't anything to write home about either.

Hi manpet, I have tried Route CC, it was fine but I did not find it as good as Players Lounge. Perhaps its time to re-visit the place.

One place I haven't mentioned over here on the darkside is Vientiane on Soi Neun Plub Wan.

We go there a couple of times a week.

The food tastes great and is well priced and they've got a kiddies play area too.
