Those xena alarm disc locks are not good. Kept getting false alarms so took the battery out. Mate with one had the same problem. Still a good dsc lock though.

2600 baht if you're in the Panda customer registry- he probably has other models- I have the XX6, which is one of their lighter models. I haven't had a problem with false alarms, but it's pretty sensitive- it might make a difference how it's attached to the disc (I remember reading something about it in a review).

I got the other beefy lock from the States.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

    Thanks.

Eastbound on Soi Siam Country Club RD, past the bypass roads junction, 50 meters past the first 7-11 on the left, opposite Soi 12 and next to the Animal hospital/vet.

Any recommendations for a better disc lock available here? I've never bought one with an alarm before but with an ever expanding garage I think I should get a few!

Except for another Xena at Panda that has a 10mm pin (which wasn't in stock when I called them) I haven't seen any others in LOS.

Ok mate, I am sure I saw one in Red Baron but I might be imagining it. I'll pop over to take a look and I'll check out Dirt Shop too as I will be going there anyway this week. If not off to Panda it is!

    Sorry about it.

I am sure that you bike is still around, these monkeys are too retarded to be organized and escape quickly.

Sure also that they do not live so far from where they stole it.

Have you promised a rewards to everybody who will bring information to find the bike ?

    It needs to hang vertical.

ie, through the very bottom hole in the brake-rotor.

False alarms can happen when it isn't.

Just as likely to have been dismantled to be sold as parts within 30 minutes of the theft.

Tokyo Marine Ins. pay back 55k for a 2010 model.

Cost, I believe is around 6,000. Dropping to 4,500 for the 2nd year.

    I hear you M

The owner of the Ninja told the cops he would pay a 10,000 baht reward for recovery of his bike; they laughed.

In hind sight, a 6k premium for fully comprehensive insurance sounds ok. I thought about upgrading my coverage, mostly for increased liability protection and bail bond coverage.

About theft coverage, that would have helped but prevention is the key. That was my mistake, not getting a decent alarm disc lock. Easy to lock and it surely would have prevented this theft.

I've talked to the cops again; their answer is "wait, wait..."

Lotsa shops sell motion activated disc locks these days. Red Baron, Dirt Shop, Kittisak, Panda, etc. Personally I've found that the Xena locks don't last long in the tropics. After a year or two the false alarms become more and more frequent to the point where I've pulled the batteries out of my Xena locks and just use them as regular disc locks.

The bikes are long gone- straight to the chop shop and parted out in less than 24 hours. Hope the OP had insurance!

Foiling a disc alarm is a lot easier than you think and won't slow down professional thieves one bit... Bummer you didn't have insurance

I'm not sure how "professional" these yobs were. I think they've probably stolen many bikes, but more smash and grab type thefts.

The bike's age was listed as 2010 in the green book. Can theft coverage be bought for a bike 3 years old?

What pisses me off the most is that the cops could care less. I'm sure they have an idea of known/suspected bike thiefs in the area, but they can't get off their ass to look.

Its just another business, like the jet ski scams and it will never stop. Too much money involved...

Re disc locks. I bought the Xena double barrel job without alarm a couple of days after this thread. 900 bht and looks pretty sturdy to me. I keep forgetting it's on though a rolling it back into the calipers when exiting the drive.

I am sure the cops have an idea about who committed the crime but as you say are too lazy to get off their bums.

Plus it has been raining a lot lately and there is no way they are going to get wet let alone drive on flooded roads.

Dude, be careful or you might pull one of these moves!

Been there done that! I usually wrap a bright hair scrunchy stolen from the gf around the throttle and brake lever as a reminder to remove the disc lock before taking off!

    I agree.

I think when they want to/need to, the Thai police know where to look to find the culprits. We checked some 7-11 CCTV cams and saw the bikes further east on Siam Country Club road, though we never pin pointed the area we think they might have turned off.

The cops didn't come out to the crime scene and were ho hum about the CCTV video.

Any way. secure your bikes guys, insure for theft if you don't want to absorb the loss and maybe consider one of those GPS locators to pin point the location of the bike.

Better yet, hook up with an influential Thai girl that can organise a possey (SP?) of thai guys to help out. On the other hand, breaking up with an influential babe might not be to healthy, 555+

Damn good idea. I confess one reason that I didn't use a disc lock, or even a pad lock through the disk was my fear of flopping the bike, as happened in the video.

    Yes, of course it can.

For a CBR250 it probably would have been around 5,000 baht for theft, bail bond, and the rest.
