    The Glory Hut

I received a phone call from The Glory Hut, on Monday afternoon, saying that they had neither meat or fish for that day, and could I possibly take them some?

Fortunately, I was able to drive to Pattaya and get some supplies. Needless to say that when I did get to The Glory Hut everyone was extremely appreciative!

If anyone else can help them with foodstuffs, particularly fish (Pla Tu seems to be a favourite), meat and vegetables, I am sure that it would be gratefully received.

    Bump.

just been over to TGHF to drop some supplies off. They seem very low on food if anyone fancies doing a good deed.

When I took some supplies over, about ten days ago, was told that there was another meeting with officialdom in the very near future. Have not heard any more.
After all the work that has been put into their new location and the help provided by those that have seen fit to provide assistance, it would be a travesty if they were forced to relocate.

Latest news from The Glory Hut.

Went over with some supplies on Thursday and was pleased to be told that the Foundation does not have to move.

As ever supplies are always much appreciated.

What about a few more Teak Door members making a donation? Food, particularly in the form of protein is always appreciated, as are fresh vegetables and consumable items such as tissue papers, cleaning materials - in fact anything that you might buy for your own home.

Would like to donate but anything to do with the word 'glory' makes me apprehensive. Will you use my money to proselytise Christianity?

As a non church goer, I have no interest whether or not Christianity, or any other faiths, are promoted through The Glory Hut.

Whilst realizing that there are many charitable organizations in need of assistance, I choose to donate to The Glory Hut on a monthly basis, simply because there are people there with serious health issues which preclude them from obtaining employment and not only are in need of, but are deeply appreciative of any help given!

Munted, if you live within an easy travelling distance, might I suggest that you visit The Glory Hut, preferably taking some usable commodities with you, and see for yourself. However, at the end of the day, the decision is entirely your own!

The wife and I just got back from dropping some supplies f to the GHF.

There are signs all the way up the Soi leading to the huts saying the locals want them out by the 12th June and to go stay where the government have offered them.

The wife asked where they were supposed to move too. It turns out it is about 200m from a huge local rubbish tip/landfill site. The government do't even own the land but expect the foundation to rent the land and re-build their huts at their own expense.

The lady my wife was speaking to said that as they have already paid 50% of the price on the land they will not be moving.

Quite a few of the 'properties' around the GHF just look like recycling plants, there are piles of plastic etc everywhere.

It will be interesting to see what happens on the 12th.
I would post pictures but life's too short.

The Glory Hut - Bangkok Post Monday 22.6.2015

    Bangkok Post: Video

The above video clip is in Thai, but with English subtitles.

    It's a sad, sad situation!

I visit once a month with some supplies, as do some other Teak Door members, and some other, seemingly, well known benefactors.

I just hope that The Glory Hut Foundation is able to move away from this area to a place where they will not suffer the harassment they they are currently enduring. After all the work (an awful lot of self help has gone into creating the present 'Glory Hut'), put in to create this haven for the sick, it is grim that local opinion is so much against them!

In the mean time, they are always grateful for any donations, whether it be food or day to day necessities, so what about helping out a little?

The locals should hang their heads in shame.

I'll be going down for a visit one day this week, I just hope I don't catch TB or acne

    The Glory Hut

    Yes, indeed they are!

I shall be making my monthly trip down there, as soon as the New Year Celebrations are out of the way.

It's always a pleasure, tinged with sadness, to visit the Glory Hut, and a see how any benefactor is welcomed there.

A few hundred Baht spent on some food stuffs is nothing compared to what is spent by a lot of Westerners just over the Holiday period.

What about it lads - the price of a few beers is nothing compared to the gratitude of the residents.

A Happy and Healthy 2016 to All

    Glory Hut

Went to the Glory Hut, for my monthly visit last week.
Gratifying to see some of the long term residents, their welcome always manages to make the trip worthwhile!

They have even managed to open a small shop on site, so if you do pay a call, do make a point of taking a look (and even making a purchase).
