They opened an El Toro in Jomtien, not sure if it is still open though.
Used to eat my breakfasts there many times a few years back.Originally Posted by DJ Pat

I forgot what day it was and yes, Gregs has some very nice food at reasonable prices.
Gregs Kitchen is bloody awful ! Overpriced. and swimming in gravy. He is a smarmy bugger with a big opinion of himself and his crappy restaurant.
People only go there if they have not been used to quality British food at home.
Route C.C. RoadHouse Siam country club, good food & menu, sunday lunch is very good, casual darkside place to eat,
Huge on Soi Neun Plub Wan.
They have lovely thai food as well as western dishes and very attentive service.
The steak is surprisingly tender, the fillet melts in the mouth and is cooked well.
I have had disappointments with beef in Thailand and am amazed at what passes for steak in some places. Never been disappointed here though. Not the cheapest steak in town but thats ok as long as its good.
The service girls top up your beer when you get half way down the glass, which may or may not suit all. They aren't intrusive though and are just taking care.
One of our favourite dishes is their Plar Kapong Pad Cha, which is served on a sizzling pan.
Also one of the few restaurants that heed farang when they ask for their food to be spicy.
We eat there quite often, the only downside to that is they don't seem to have more than one CD so i am getting fed up of their background music.
The only view is of the bend in the road on Neun Plub Wan, but they have a nice enough bit to sit out the front as well. Free Wi-Fi also.
I much preffered Huge Food before when it was Rung Tip, mind you I haven't been for about a year now so maybe it's better.
Just down the road a bit further is Vientienne which has defo got a lot better since it opened.
Iv'e known Greg since his days as a chef at the British Club in Bangkok and always found him to be an honest likable type of chap.Originally Posted by jamiejambos

Fair enough........But to name and shame a guy without any explanation is quite unfair.Originally Posted by jamiejambos
O.K, have found his prices to be a bit over the top and the quality of his food sadly lacking and further more i agree with Can123 that i also find him to be a tad too arrogant with his head too far up his own arse,,,,,,BUT ! That is only my personal opinion, nothing more....is that reasonable enough for you?
The prices in Greg's Kitchen are very high. The food is far from being good and I see no reason why people should pay excessive amounts just for cotton table cloths.
On the few occasions I went there he gave the impression that he had a Michelin Star rated establishment. Kiss Restaurant, down the road, is infinitely better in every way.
Is Maggs restaurant still on Thepprasit Road? Who runs it now?
Once again, fair enough.Originally Posted by jamiejambos
It is important to explain why you disapprove of his restaurant and for the benefit of others who may want to go there.
I have not visited Greg's Kitchen for a number of years as I don't often go over that side of Sukhumvit Rd but will bear in mind that he has obviously put his prices up and his food quality has slipped.
As we all know, quality varies from one month to the other in many places. A lot of the places, I used to enjoy have gone downhill in the last year. However, here is my updated suggestions.
- Beefeater has a nice buffet spread with Tacos, ribs etc on Saturdays and Sundays for around 250 baht.
- Casa Pascal is still unbeatable for the Breakfast buffet although prices have gone up recently!
- On the Darkside, Levy Pub (German restaurant) has some nice dishes..try the Gypsy Schnitzel. Large portions and reasonable prices.
- The little Italian place on the corner of Jomtien Nivate also raised its prices but has unpretentious and good food.
- La Cantina(french/pizza place) has some amazing pizzas for 100b-180b, thin crust and take away available. Also an extensive menu.
- News cafe in Jomtien has a buffet on weekends for 199 baht, ribs, sate, swedish meatballs etc....
- Vientiane is always a safe bet for some vietnamese food, on the Darkside as well(Nice setting on a Lotus filled lake) towards the end of Soi Nerm Plub waan.
- The Fishermans' rest on Mapprachan has some tasty pizzas and Indian food with a great setting for sunset beers.
- Bansaray, Chay Talay is still good although they had a major price uphike.
10. Tikka centre on Soi Bua Kao, for your Indian/Paki fix.
The German place next to Sammy's bar on Mabprachan is pretty good all round, can't remember the name of it though.
Moved a few doors along and is now a double unit, obviously must be doing well.Originally Posted by DJ Pat
