Lack of Snakes near Chiang Rai

We live in the country 2kms outside Chiang Rai City and usually we see a lot of snakes during the rainy season. This year I've only seen one. Anyone experiencing the same lack of sightings? It may be due to the shortage of frogs. They're much quieter this year.
A good website for ID-ing snakes and other creepy-crawklies is:
    Poisonous snakes of Thailand

    Good site. Thanks.
We're about 2 hours from CR and I've seen nothing thus far. Fair few frogs though. Well there were 'till the wife caught 'em.
