From what I gather Mike he has always had some sort of gastrointestinal issue. As time goes on parts of it just collapse causing an almost sepsis like infection. So the immediate response is remove the areas infected.
I reviewed all the test results and he is just getting old and things are starting to fail.
Thanks Toots. I expect a reasonably long recovery due to his age but we have a great support group around. Sister will be up tomorrow and will stay with us as well as their cousin to help care in his recovery
I have a 5-year-old St Benard. When I go out on shovel patrol, she will usually squeeze one out. Kind of like while you're at it you can have this.
Well FIL is struggling on recovery, sadly. Lots of family going back and forth. He seemed to be progressing then more infection showed up. While my wife is at the hospital teaming up with sisters and aunts I am at the ranch holding the fort down.
The new boss...
Watching me as I vacuum the pool. I have another supervisor
Lights out. Busy day playing fetch, chasing sisters...
Annie worn out as well.
I was checking the pump on the fish pond and this long time resident Skink showed up and watched me.
Our long time friend who does gates and railings installed a dog kennel extension to give the 4 dogs a bit more room.
Today when I went to drop of stuff to recycle there was guy offloading a nice plate steel bench. He needed money and was going to part with it. I said, I will give you 100bht more than the scrap place. He agreed. I brought it home, power washed it.
A few cans of flat black paint and all good. Bench space is a nice thing in a shop.
most of my small goldfish have been disappearing and now I think I know what is happening. This morning I saw this gig bird having discovered the all you can eat buffet at my pond. Don't know what kind of bird it was but it looked like a Snowy Egret . Tomorrow I will go through my security camera file to see if I have any evidence. I think I might have to buy a pellet gun.
PS: nice picture, I enjoy reading your thread very much.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.
Also. How do you keep the dogs out of your flower beds? The new puppy we got is digging up the place.
I had to put some of that green , plastic fence material around everything.
I am giving the puppy a lot of exercise, and I take the out and let them run every day. Anyway I home she outgrows the digging, otherwise the only think she will be digging would be her own grave.
Well puppies need activity. If you leave them to figure it out it usually means eating flip flops or digging. Hahaha.
I keep the little ankle biter running with the pack. Wear her out.
My oldest Lab Judy is showing Maggie all her bad habits. It's like the big sister who says. Hey do this, I know you will get in trouble but i won't.
Well another day. FIL still in hospital with little to no real improvement. Family gals are on shifts caring for him. Now with Monday here my Wife is doing the day shift so 8-6pm as the others have to work but will do the night shift.
So its just the dogs and I which is no problemo.
Relaxing waiting for the wife to come down the street. Little one learning how to play with big sisters.
The Little tough one ( with the protection of the chair )
Morning routine of playing fetch. I am doing the short game so the ankle biter can play.
The wrestling match with Annie.
Top dog pics JP!
Well 16 days in now and FIL still in hospital. My wife, her cousin and older sister remain vigilant on their swapping time at the hospital so he is never alone. It is taking its toll unfortunately. They are all exhausted and like all of us they have lives to lead as well. Recovery is slow and a few nights ago we all thought he was gonna punch his ticket out but they got him back on track. I took all the med data they supplied to my wife and called my daughter in the US. It was perfect as she happened to be working an ER trauma shift and one of the ER surgeons was there and took a look at the info. Their assessment is that they removed a small part of his stomach and a large section of his lower intestine and his body appears unable to reestablish his stomach flora. This remains the issue as every time they remove a suction or feeding tube to let him try water, he goes sideways and they put all the tubes back in. Poor old fella. I have gone and seen him a few times but still have to work and watch the house and of course the new puppy.
Speaking of the ankle biter
9.5 weeks now and growing fast.
I have Maggie fully socialized now with her sisters. She gets on well and is already fetching the ball and bringing it back then going to sit in the cool water on the cement.
With the wife gone I have ample time to keep the place up and work on projects and keeping busy as hell. Winter is over as the temp here is clipping 35c now and everything is dry and requires the watering cycle.
Did a hedge trim this morning. Quick work with the right tools and done
I have decided to strip all the paint off the top of the metal table i picked up and leave it bare metal as I can weld on the table and it will have a nice ground. I picked up so flapper grinder discs at Thaiwatsadu and started the process.
What's the diff between a flapper grinder and an angle grinder?
Sorry about your FIL. From your thread he seems like great guy. Hoping for the best outcome.
Thanks Cal. He is nice old fella. Hopefully he can return home soon. I imagine he hates being in a small hospital room with no window.
Thanks Mike for clarifying that for Topper. Made quick work taking the paint and rust right off. Can also take skin off to the bone if not careful. Seen that a few times during my race car fabricating days.
Maggie growing very fast. When we picked her up she was 5.9kgs at 8.5 weeks. Now 13.6kgs at 11 weeks. She has a set of paws on her so I expect her to be a big one.
She has been fully socialized with her sisters and no issues. They all sleep in the Kennel.
Big part of my morning is after we do 2 or 3 laps around the place, we all play fetch. Her sisters go and get the ball where ever I throw it and Maggie lays in wait to attack them to try and steal it. Some good laughs.
My FIL still in hospital, maybe another week. Was diagnosed with a Pulmonary Embolism so now they are working on that issue. So I am the "King of the castle" as no one is here except the dogs and I. We have a lot of fun every day. I dropped another pigeon and Judy grabbed it up before I could even pick it up to toss in the trash. She is like a damn gazelle.
Air quality has been just terrible. Never seen it like this so early in all my time here.
I purchased a weather station to see day to day. Works really well. Be interesting to see when rainy season arrives.
