    What do you all think?

Stumpy, did you realise that if you had borrowed one of Mendip's chickens and placed in the doorway to Wat Prathat Lampang Luang to the right of the picture you could have re-created the crest of the City of Lampang, which is based on that temple in Koh Kha?

All the lotus pots have small skeeter eating fish in them. Never a problem. I do not have any standing water around the place.

So here in Chiang Mai we get a flood of Bangkok tourists for holidays. I landed at the airport and thought "I'll use my pass to whizz down past the runway and be home in ten minutes".

It took me five minutes to exit the airport and the runway bypass.

Then 30 minutes to go another few kilometres because all these Bangkok idiots don't know how to use Google Maps, keep getting in the wrong lanes, jam up traffic lights and generally drive like c u n t s.

Today wife and I went into the Lampang city. Traffic is already building, cones blocking U turns and Makro jammed with people stocking up.

Let the madness begin. I have a Annual Visa Extension appt Dec 30. Immigration is usually light, but the crazies on AH1 heading to CM is always a challenge.

Good day today. Year winding down.

My little tropical garden by the pool bar has taken off in the last 2 weeks or so. Get very full.

My little water feature lotus plants have proved to be great cover for the colored guppies.

Later after lunch headed off to do my annual visa extension. This immigration office is really laid back and in all my years I have never had any issue. Fast friendly process.

Gotta love an empty parking lot at immigration. Total process took 38 minutes.

Stopped by my favorite little lumber shop in Lampang city after leaving immigration. Picked up a few pieces of 2x4's to make my sawhorse set up to be a portable workshop table. Will plane down the ends that are bit thick and notch the pieces of wood to fit.

And we finally saw our next addition to the family. We will pick her up mid January. Her name is Sofia. . Will have another pool belly flop dog soon.

Tomorrow mid day family starts rolling in and let the food coma and drinking begin

    Happy New Year.

Thanks Mike. I will be posting pics of the food and drinks. I am getting my crash helmet ready. I found the issue with the heater in my Jacuzzi a few days ago. Now have it at 30C. Will try and not be a floater and in the news. But hopefully they say "In Pattaya"...HAHAHAHAHAHA

Busy day today. Family traveling here from Ayutthaya and Kamphaeng Phet.

Ahhh yah. Early morning wake up beverage.

Brother and sister in law arrived just after lunch. They have 2 dogs, a Siberian Husky and an English Retriever ( both males). This should prove to be interesting over the next 4 days. FIL was showing them his small garden with long beans and cucumbers.

Wife cooked up some pork ribs. for dinner.

I enjoyed a few late afternoon beers.

    Good value at 79 baht.

Meh. I have been drinking Monster and Redbull on and off for years. For me, way better than coffee or Coke. At least it has a load of Vitamin B's.

Yeah and I don't have diabetes so it works out perfectly. Sugar rush plus caffeine. Win - Win

But in fairness I avg 16,212 steps a day and have no other sugars so I easily burn both the sugar and caffeine out very fast. Today was 21, 626 steps. Not much of a guy who sits around much.

You need to be careful about the sugar. And not only because of weight gain.
I won't get too preachy about it , plenty of vids on Youtube on the subject.
But too much sugar can induce insulin resistance, and a fatty liver.
My Dad developed and struggled with type 2 diabetes, that eventually killed him, that he developed when he got older, and being that it occured in the family as I get older I am careful about it.
I have a blood sugar detector, and I check myself every once in a while early in the morning before I had anything to eat .
It needs to be be 100 or less, anything over that consistently should be cause of concern.
IMO . Red Bulls and drinks of that type should be illegal.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

I don't eat a lot of sweets in fact very little. I never add sugar to anything. Typically there is too much added sugar in so many foods we eat. As with everything, it's always about consuming in moderation and staying active. Of course family genes will impact your health as well. I wasn't kidding when I stated about my daily avg step count. I monitor it daily along with a few other things. A great number of friends I know who have various ailments are not active and eat way too much. While I am not a health freak, I do watch what I eat and my wife prepares very healthy meals.

Well if that happened here, you would have to close virtually every 7/11. LOL. Almost the entire refrigerator section is sodas and energy drinks. Other than milk and bread, 7/11's sell nothing but heavily processed crap food.
