I’d scoff that soup!
It was delish DW.
The ceremony is on it last night and in full swing. Some lights, old school Thai music but respectful volume. Monks should be showing up anytime now as I was told. Tomorrow the old fella trollies off in that set up in the pictures I posted. I think they might have to get a crane to come and lift it up and around the corner.
I always wonder what my FIL thinks about all of this. He has been pretty quiet and went to bed early. Its a long process unlike the US where you sing a swan song then you are outta here.
nice to see the thai spending their money wisely.
The bloke that built that wall never played Jenga.
Quite a few around here built the exact same way.
I mean, I've never built a wall, but if I did, it certainly wouldn't be like that.
Honestly Tax, its all relative. In the US people drop anywhere from $5k to $15K USD for a casket then some families put the deceased in mausoleum's making large monthly payments for basically forever. My wife was told that the fancy deal was about $1K USD. Not bad considering the work and effort it took to make it, deliver and set it up.
Last day of the ceremony today. Last night they did a very nice party. The band played really pretty good music and kept it under 125db. They launched 5 big mortars which I kept a close eye on as sometimes they can blow up. They quit at 10ish. I chatted with a few and they are nice folks.
This morning they were up playing music at 6am. I was told that the buddha deal they made for him, they have to push it all the way to the temple. That is probably 3+km away. I also heard that it might be too tall and hit power lines. I just smiled. Could be more events coming up with people dying pushing it.
But hey this is Thailand....I just pull up a chair and watch because sometimes you just can't make it up.
Being we are sort of confined to the property for today, I took advantage of the time and transplanted some shrubs into bigger pots using dirt my wife and I make in our mulch pit. I gotta say this stuff is like steroids for our plants.
Just reminded of my first "Thai funeral"
Many moons ago a newbie in LOS was walking back from a restaurant a few yards ahead of a pal we had probably sunk a case of beer between us and you know that thirst that a skinful provides.
Walked that same soi several times as only 200yards from dinner to out adjacent homes
I heard the music bright lights and saw the boxes of beer and was offered one by a smiling lady, a moment later my pal explained and we went into the house to pay our respects to the open coffin in the living room leave a donation and return home with a couple of carry outs!
It was an era pre net and mobile where most oridnary folks had one big black white tv box and whole family on the floor or thise incredibly hard wooden teak sofa beds for the "upper tier"
I had planned to stay months, then I met Wivnail , the night liffe, lek and the rest is history.
For all its faults there is nowhere else someone as eccentric me feels completely at home.
Thanks for another slice of your life, there's more to this stompy fella than revalving 4 wheeled women
CHeers David. I have seen numerous funerals in our Mooban over the years but this one was the first that was right next door and was helping and offering assistance. This was an odd event due to the New years situation but he is gone and the process is over. We have our Soi back and everyone pitched in and cleaned it up. Many I have seen there is garbage and crap left all over.
I am reclutching 4 wheeled women. I like how it "Grabs" now.
Some updates. So I have been working closely with a performance product company in Finland and I received their clutch kit performance and the AFR and MAF programmer.
This is the set up they sent me to test on my ATV.
Omni clutch.
Swapped out the Primary set up and installed the new one
Swapping out the secondary spring and and Helix. Also installed low friction helix rollers.
Took off for a few hours testing the new clutch set up and AFR and MAF program. Can ride up here forever. Can't wait for rainy season
They sent you all that for free? Pretty cool stuff. I am sure taxi will be along soon to tell you that flashing a ECU is like taking a dental X-ray, and he is an expert in that.
That is awesome, so them giving you free stuff has already paid off for the company, as you are aiding product development by using the stuff in an environment that they could not replicate in Finland. Cool beans.
Win win situation I would say snubby
