The outdoor pics are from my daily walk in Saint Helena as I head to town for a coffee on main street. Fish and Chips were at the waterfront in Napa.

A day in the life in the north.

What a glorious day in the north of Thailand.

Daily life here really is quite splendid. Especially this time of year.

We woke up nice and early and NNNNGF (Nice New Ninteenyearold Northern GF) didn’t have uni until the afternoon, had already finished her homework and classwork, so we jumped on Black Beauty and went for a schpin up to Huay Keaw waterfall and Doi Suthep.

A nice stop off point, before heading up the mountain.

Nice bit of flow to her this time of year, and NNNNGF was impressed.

Up to the first viewpoint for a look over the city.

You won't see the nearest trees in another 4 months.

Nice to see the weather from up here and I always like seeing the planes take off. There can't be that many airports that people can watch the planes take off and still be under them as they get to 500m altitude.

Me ol' Xiaomi phone wasn't too impressed by the fact, as was NNNNGF, to be honest.

Ah shure, everyone loves an ol' jolly joker.

    I've seen it quieter.

    Lovely Loy Krathong lanterns.

The Sommerset Smoothie was on a passport run by the looks of things.

    Selfie Alert.

Ordered up some Food Panda delivery and got the timing just right. Got the ol bell ding-dong 2 minutes after getting back.

    Velly tasty.

Stuffed, then into bed for an hour, then helped her into her uniform, and off for her classes.

A lovely day in the north.

A great aspect of daily life in the north is of course the food.

Today it was a case of picking up some Khao Soi from the most renowned, and utterly fantastic Khao Soi-ers in the area. 3 old women with 2 or 3 teenage relatives helping out when the schools are closed. You'll be waiting 10-20 minutes most days, as is its popularity.... Only 40 baht. Madness. Absolute madness.

The sauce/curry/broth is the best there is.

The the chicken drumsticks are too small, and their onions are cut too thick... But... there's an Eddy plan for that.

    Superb.

Though the eagle-eyed punter may see that there are 4 drumsticks in it instead of 2, and wonder what sort of evil skullduggery is going on.

Well, let me fill you on how us experts roll.

For every 1 Khao Soi that is going to be eaten... buy 2.

Set up the bowl but put all the drumsticks from both sets into it, and then pour all the remaining curry sauce from the uneaten Khao Soi into a storage box.

    Just look at that beauty.

Will get some proper sized drumsticks over the next day or 2 and use the slow cooker to do its magic.

The spare set ready and waiting.

    You evil genius you.

    *evil laugh*

That would be either the old grannies or their teenage helpers.

I have to cut them off with a scissors. The fookin' little things.

    Daily life in the north.

Just a glorious day here today.

Big blue skies, big green leaves and nip in the air.

First a spot of breakie and then off for a ride to the Sticky Waterfalls as today is her second of two weekly mornings without uni classes - pretty amazing geology where for whatever reason, all the rocks are really sticky and grippy and you can just walk up the whole thing, despite the torrents of nice fresh cool water thundering down.

The Thai name is quite beautiful - Golden Lotus Waterfall.

The English name of Sticky Waterfall is not quite as pleasant, but a bit more true.

NNNNGF made up some oats and bananas, I did me standard Canadian bacon and egg on toast as she had never had such a style of breakfast before.

She wolfed down hers, had a sample of the Western fare, then scoffed more than half of it before I got the chance to. A fair feat given she's around 30kg wringing wet. Oh to have teenage metabolism again.

Turns out she shares a birthday with one of my parents, though one was born in 1947 and the other in 2005, but there are lucky lotto numbers in there somewhere.

Style - I suppose imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

    And down ya go.

7 levels and quite a bit, especially in bare feet.

One did note that all the other clever-clog just wore sandals for the whole thing.

The early birdovski gets the vormski.

The Russian birds aren't averse to sporting bikinis.

    Arrive at the bottom

    Then off you step...

..... into the depths of hell.

The whole thing is like the sections of brown road going into a dangerous bend that have lots of extra grip. You literally just grip onto it.

Can sit and chill at different sections.

    Before the final accent assault.

    Lunch was surprisingly passable.

Though I doubt there was much taste left after the Pad Thai was seasoned.

Motorbike cruise back to CM, quick shower, into the uniform and off to class.

Lovely daily day in the north.

Pretty sure Eddie's trip report and photos are from the north. Even more north than the OP.
Not enough grilled steaks for you?

Great stuff from Eddie. Greened him.
Just noticed a string of posts that had fuck all to do with anything up North.
Grilled steaks are fine as long as they are ground before eating. Absense of teeth.

Thanks for the full-house, Norts and others. *curtsey*

Hopefully Stumpy is just enjoying being with his wife and pops at his pop's home in Napa V, and hasn't flounced again.

The last time he flounced he made a big loud public declaration about it, I didn't see that happen lately, so hopefully the former.

    Edit:

Tiz another beauty of a day up north. Big blue skies, big green leaves, the birds are singing, butterflies fluttering, sala fan whirring, fish pond pump bubbling, Food panda is delivering some fresh organic chicken to knock out the Khao Soi Supreme... tiz a day for swinging-chair, scrabble, iced lavender tea, and nothing bladdy else.

Can’t wait for Stumpy to get back to reality. This thread has obviously been hijacked by someone abusing drugs.

There are many of us in the North who post about many topics without disrupting Stumpy's excellent work.

inter alia newsgirl, dervish dave's spinning yarns, the wonderful grammar and spellchecker and that grey haired freelance dick bloke still trying to fertilize all and sundry

    Oh.

I thought it was a thread created for people living in the north to post about their daily life here.

Slope shoulders, so nothing sticks, but do post more pics of your watch so everyone can keep up with your exercise regime.
