Great to meet ya Norts and share some grub with your wife and Misskit. Was good fun, laughs and Bloody Mary's.

You saw the guest room and it's always available. We would enjoy a trek your way and will plan something.

    Cheers

Chainsaws are for dummies. Thug tools for the cack handed and the clumsy.

As any skilled professional dental surgeon will tell you, precision is all, the hand eye co ordination, the tremor free grip, the social skills, the mental focus and the confidence needed to use in confined spaces the scalpel, the retractor, the curetting blade, the root canal reamers barely the diameter of a human hair and the electric or air driven drills that operate at up to 250,000rpm is something the average meathead can only dream about as they dig, scrape, chop, wildly slice and shovel.

Macro and micro. Microns and yards. Two different worlds.

whilst i'm sure the precision of dental tools will leave a very precise and aesthetic finish to the cut surface on a tree it would take a week to amputate a limb when pruning.

So went on a long ride into the mountains today. Its really quite enjoyable to just head off into the country. roads lead to trails that lead to paths. Some folks are living completely off the grid. Nice folks when I see them.

View vids and pic from today

Lots of rain on the way back again.

Could have sworn it was entitled ‘ A day in the life in the North ‘ but who knows what Snubbie thinks. These crazed roundheads do lose it.

Taco Bell is not food as I recognise the term. Do folk really enjoy eating that stuff?

Dirt biking along jungle trails is not my idea of fun. Rather monotonous and the scenery mundane. Now, biking around the wetlands of the Somerset Levels between the withy beds and rines on a frosty bright late autumn afternoon with the sun setting by Burrow Mump is a fine activity.

Gotta tell ya SA any day anywhere outside is far better versus sitting inside curtain twitching. As you know I lived in Northern California in some of the most scenic country you can imagine from SF to North Washington. I have ridden on dirt bikes, mountain bikes and ATVs all over there. Here in Thailand, I find the mountains and areas quite scenic. I think if you finally got out out of your condo in Wongamat and were up in the Northern Mountains you would find them to be the same. I doubt you have ever left the area so all you know is...well... what you know. But please..tell us more as you seem to know everything...about everything.

Great videos, JP! Nice that you met up with Norts/Wife and Misskit too! Lovely!
I've been to CM a few times, and CR once. Would love to go back to CM soon. I love the mountains and the greenery.
I was watching some vloggers and it looks like CM is insanely crowded nowadays esp. in high season.. it isn't what it used to be in that regard.

It has been raining here consistently for the last 3 days. Not heavy but consistent. Rain was 34mm the other day and another 36mm yesterday. Temp is very nice.

Grilled me up a burger while watching the SF Giants play the Oakland A's in a "battle of the bay" as we call it

After game took off in the rain.......

Took a few beers and then sat at the mountain lake.

For once, it's been the same here.

Until the rain stopped about 90 minutes ago.

Right now is the best weather for football there will be all year.

Poured rain all night and still raining this morning. Been pretty much 4 days straight with a few small breaks. Thankfully hasn't been heavy rain coupled with high winds. Those always create big issues. Ground is pretty saturated at this point and the radar shows all green with areas of heavy rain currently. Yesterday we got 31mm of rain, day before 36mm

    Friday it is.

Yes and fairly large ones. I have seen the water on the surface ripple and some large splashes. Not sure what species though. I haven't walked to the other end yet to see if any good spots. I did see signs that someone has brought a boat. Probably a small plastic style.

I fished it 1 time but brought the wrong gear.

Well as is with anything here ( or anything anywhere to be honest) stuff breaks. So the other morning I went down to fire up the Jacuzzi to run the pumps and check the chems and it kicked all the breakers in the pool bar area. Not just the jacuzzi breaker but the main which immediately told me that it was a big direct short to ground.

Into the Jacuzzi electronics I go. Typically in these cases its the heater that dies and of course shorts, but this was a bigger issue.

After a few hours of probing the board, the issue was that during all this rain that corrosion had actually propagated from the line voltage across the terminal block to ground causing an immediate dead power short.

    OK...Problem fixed, Jacuzzi back online.....but......

During the process it appears being a dead short like that to ground and I had the TV on, it killed my pool bar TV. I do have surge protector for the TV power but it didn't seem to do its job

I did a hard reset of the Samsung TV and checked it and it worked for a little while but then....BAM

More wonderful screens of death as we call them.

Well with MLB in full swing and the NFL about to kick off, I can't go without a Pool bar TV. Nowadays TV's are totally consumable ( sadly to be honest as I hate landfill shit) so it makes no sense to send this off to have the board looked at. I ordered a new 65" Samsung TV with better options off Lazada for a bit under $400. Crazy to think a OLED 4K BT TV is about $400 delivered to my door with a 3 year warranty. It will arrive on Friday. Now breaker wise the TV circuit should have been protected but to avoid an event in the future, I isolated the Pool Bar TV and Surround system so if the Jacuzzi has an issue again, the TV wont smoke.

Moving on, my Truck battery took a shit. I got 4 years and 9 months out of it. I went on the scooter and picked up a new one and dropped it in.

    Next issue.....

My Back forty lawn mower kick a front drive axle.

After 7+ years of hard labor, it finally took a dive. So I tossed it up on my Truck bed to take a look. After some investigation I can save it albeit it will not be height adjustable anymore

So I did a quick proof of principle with vice grips to hold the axle aligned and it worked, I welded it in place. I might get another 5 years out of it. . I hate tossing a mower that has a perfectly good working motor.

After doing shit around the place, I finally took off on the ATV to check out some trails.

This piece of land 21Rai is for sale with that view across the valley......Hmmmm. If the price is right I could buy it and then have one of those pre made Teak houses set up and have a outstanding mancave. . The main road to gain power access is about 1/2 km so that's not to bad.

While I would never farm the land, it has water access. Of course I casually mentioned it to my wife and I got that cross-eyed look and I laughed

Oh well, the rain is back and a Moscow Mule is in order

I always enjoyed McGadget as we used to call him. Some of the crap he did wasn't unrealistic but most was.
