I just seen this thread and I can't believe it.
We all know when Stumpy then known as JPPR2 was living in the USA he was actually a Mexican masquerading as a Californian and now he is an Isaanite he wants to masquerade as a Hi-So Northerner.

Mexican? I am about as white as they come. Albeit I do speak Spanish but now in California you almost have too.

I am NO WAY an Isaanite. I lived and worked out in Korat for 2 years. Gate way to Isaan or not, the day my agreement was up with the company I packed up and the back of my truck was on fire getting the hell out of dodge. Glad to be back here. BTW, welcome back ootai.

^ To be honest there are some nice parts of Korat Stumpy.

But I'll be buggered if I've ever found them.

Today as I was heading over to cut down a mango tree that sits behind my pool bar area because eventually it will be too big and fruit would land on the roof, my wife followed me to ask what I was going to cut down. I said that Mango tree. Up the arms came and the story about how this particular Mango tree is hard to find ( Sure OK ) but apparently we do not have any others on the ranch. So rather then a quick deed of cutting it down, now came the chore of moving it.

Gathered up the wheelbarrow, gloves and shovel and off to the location that she wants it moved too.

The ground right now is like cement so I wet it a bit for a few hours then dug its new location. However there is some 2 or 3 day process where we dig the tree out a bit at time, water it and wait. FIIK..... I just said OK....

After the hole digging off the pool bar to down me a few cold ones. Turned on some Steely Dan and relaxed.

Quick walk by the little pond and one of the Crawdads was in his favorite spot. This guy loves the algae growing and the water that runs down the fountain.

It appears that all companies we do business with are closed or the people I interact with are on holiday so I am off from now to Jan 5th. Nice little break.

Actually Mendy, Korat wasn't all that bad. I spent a fair amount of time at "The Mall" and Safe One market on Friday and Saturday night enjoying the entertainment and of course when it rained the Safe One market quickly became a "Floating Market". I did like my moto rides up to Khao Yai and back. I did find a few bars that my Thai colleagues invited me too. The venue was OK. But I have to say, I absolutely hated not having an airport to get out of there. Any way out was a 4hr trek in some direction. I found that my Van driver would drive me to BKK so then I could hop a plane home and that entire ordeal was like a 7 hour deal. I used to drive home and that was about 9hrs. But in fairness, Korat wasn't my home. I lived in a really nice Condo the company paid for but Condo life isn't/ wasn't for me.

Not sure about Stumpy, but from all the bean threads and posts in this forum, I often wonder about all of you.

By the way I happen to have in my possession rare footage of a member of this forum (I won't mention names)
    doing the La Cucaracha Dance.
Can you guess who? and No it's not me. I would never be able to keep my hands behind my back around a cute Mehican Senorita (oh crap, did I say Mehican? I meant to say Mexican as all us nom Mexicans say)

^^ For me, that sums it up.

I have never gone to shopping malls for pleasure in the UK or anywhere since. I know people that actually go to 'The Mall' in Korat for pleasure at the weekends, and the fact that this is the best Korat has to offer sums it up. Thank God for Lazada.

Malls are for tedious, incredibly mind-numbing shopping trips with the family. I once told my wife that the day I want to go to 'The Mall' for pleasure, she can shoot me. Maybe one day she will shoot me, but it won't be for enjoying going to a shopping mall.

You need to hi-so it up a bit and impress the locals rather than wandering around in a shorts and T shirt. Blow some offshore money in an overpriced fake chain eatery.

@ootai - I don't know where you got the idea that JPPR2/ stumpy is Mexican, but I've (kinda) followed his threads ever since he had a house building thread. I know that he's a white guy. I also know that his 1st wife (in the US) was a Filipina - that's the side from where his daughters got their good looks. He may have contributed to their brains.

@buckaroo - I watched the vid for a few seconds but I'm sorry, I couldn't stand it (got bored). I'm used to hearing "La Cucaracha" at a much faster tempo.

I know about the song La Cucaracha from high school days. It was one of the pieces that we had to learn in our school choir for the Spanish embassy competition. I stil know the lyrics of the chorus & the 1st verse.

    Chorus:
La cucaracha, la cucaracha, ya no quiere caminar.
Porque no tiene, porque le falta, dinero para gastar.

Una cucaracha pinta, te dijo a una colorada
Vamonos para mi tiera, a pasar la temporada.
    (then back to chorus).

^Did that without googling. Lyrics may have some mistakes in words or spelling since I haven't sung it in decades. Funny what the brain chooses to retain.

Oh let me explain "The Mall" trips. It was 1) To go to that liquor store by the grocery store. 2) The Grocery store for food and maybe a quick dinner on my way home from the factory or 3) A car show or motorcycle show. Other than that I never entered the place. I am not a mall walk person just to walk. I left the area shortly after Terminal 21 opened and Central was being built. I can only imagine the traffic now. Probably pretty awful.

I did enjoy Safe One at night. I lived pretty close to it and they had some good bands play and I could pick up some good food and watch the talent around.

I will say I did enjoy laughing as the Condo I lived in some BKK business guys set up Mia Noi' there. These guys would come up and do their thing and leave. I only found this out as one had a fight and he told her that she had to move out. My wife happened to be with me and she sat with her after the guy left. She lived next door. She said there were a few others so a bit of condo drama kept it fun. Pool view was nice on weekends.

My wife and I did travel around when she visited but she didn't like thr condo life either.

Oh it was, my balcony overlooked the pool only 1 floor up. So it was definitely a birds eye view.

I know he's a white guy but I was trying to make a joke, as I am sure JPPR2 was aware.
His response re not being an Isaanite shows he thinks he's a class above us mere Isaan slum dwellers AND above Mexicans as well.

He claims Italian heritage but only 6% of Californians have that while 25% have Mexican heritage.
Plus I thought real Americans were tall so he must have inherited his short stature from his Mexican ancestors.

Totally your perception there ootai. You seem a little sensitive. The cold weather making you grumpy? Bones hurt?

There was no hidden agenda and no intent that I think I am a class above anyone. Would it make you feel better if I called myself a Lampangite?

Thanks for the recent demographics on Italian versus Mexican. That is probably accurate ( actually thought it would be higher on the Mexican %). When I was a kid most of Central California was owned by Italian farmers and businessmen believe it or not. They sold out to big corps and and moved on.

Yeah that was a funny moment for sure. Mango trees grow like weeds here and are super cheap. I figured I would cut it down, go get another one. NOOOOOOOOOOO...... Its a "Special" mango tree.

They do grow quickly and soon too large for most gardens and to be able to pick the fruit easily. The choices, prune regularly to keep to a manageable size, remove after 10-15 years and replant or just fuk it and buy them down the market
