Well once again we had one of those rogue summer storms rifle through the area causing severe damages to homes, businesses, power lines, trees etc. This time I was not home as I am off on business so my wife and her sister had to manage the chaos. These storms are really interesting as they develop extremely fast. temps drop from 40c to 23c and the wind goes from a slight breeze to gusts from 50 to 70kmh. People have little time to react to avoid damage or injury.

CM got smashed for an hour or so from out of nowhere around 4pm yesterday. Tiz been a while since I've seen wind with that insane level of power. The new section of roof that was finished on Monday evening got a good test and passed with flying colours not roof sheets.

When I was growing up in Melbourne we’d have those summer storms, loved the displays and usually a relief from extremely hot weather. But those storms blew in from the ocean, I wonder what the mechanism is in Lampang

From what I can surmise is it blows in from China typically and connects with exceptionally high temperatures. Kind of like in the Midwest in the US. High Temps coupled with moisture and some wind causes Tornado's. I suspect same type of phenomenon. Quite destructive.

A nice blow through at 4pm but ended up being weaker than a Backspin repo.

Lamphun got demolished according to the news. That poster, what was his name, oh yeah, Lamphun, may have died.

    Tesco/Homepro lot

    Store front from flying debris.

The weather seems to be cooling off now, mid 90's which is nice. we are getting a bit of late afternoon rain almost every day now according to my wife and SIL. I won't be home for another 3 weeks.

Well not really about the North but I am on my last week of travel. Look forward to getting back to "Boonies" and having this project behind me. Its been a logistics challenge taking Gen 1 equipment and tooling down and getting it shipped to other factories in Japan and the US, coordinate receiving Gen 2 equipment and bringing it online.

    Few pics

Small section of the class 100 cleanroom area with various manufacturing equipment.

All equipment had to be powered down carefully and vacuum sealed then moved out for crating

    Crating some very expensive assets

A few of the 102 assets being crated and moved.

The new equipment is already staged and on the floor and the facility hook ups will begin and thankfully I do not have to be down here for that. In fact a bright side, I will not have to return to this factory. Originally when I joined the company 5+ years back, I really enjoyed our operations being in Bangkok. I had a nice condo on Wireless road but we grew too fast for that factory location so we moved to the gigantic factory in Chonburi and I have really dreaded coming this way. It wouldn't be bad if they had nice hotels out by the factories but out where the factory is, it is fully industrialized and there is nothing nearby so I have to have my driver take me and its 1hr each way and with that I have been stuck having to stay in Pattaya.

Before Covid I had a full serviced condo down in Sattahip which was pretty nice. Far removed from the cesspit of tourists and smell of Pattaya. But with Covid I moved back to WFH and then traveled down as required and of course with customer visits they had to stay in Pattaya due to corporate accts at Holiday Inn and Hilton and I had to be here to entertain them.

So this Friday I will wave goodbye to the area and will never return. Now its back home and its been raining every day so the mountain trails are perfect to go out on my ATV and have some fun with a few of my friends and enjoy some home cooked meals and fire up the grill. No riff raff, no ambulances, traffic, robbings, stabbings, jumpers, scammers, mafia, overpriced food and bus loads of Chinese people smoking, spitting and throwing their garbage everywhere. How can one not love the "Boonies"? I mean I guess if you live here in a place 20 stories up and never leave, it might be OK.... maybe but who wants to live like that?

Crazy storm, those car roofs never stood a chance, glad it happened to Homepro, never liked them. How did your new roof over the pool stand up?

Well as MM77 said, over engineering here is a plus. It survived without an issue at all.
