Yeah so upset I complimented him on his post, and added my own.

Stumpy, that's a lot of sail area, are you sure those two posts are going to hold when a wind storm comes thru?
Now having thought about it, I'm guessing the welds would snap on the frame before the posts are pulled up.

Last few days been watching the shadow and line of the sun to determine how much siding I want to add. Based on the shadows on the ground, I want very little. This will also help with the weight and as Topper mentioned the potential damage from the rogue wind/rain storms that blow through this valley. I definitely do not want it to look like a lid over the pool.
Roofing material business called this morning. Roof and ceiling material will be delivered at 3 today. Ung and Bao will return tomorrow so we can get after it.

Delivery on schedule. Putting the roofing on will be straight forward. Not sure how the ceiling part will go. Glad I am not doing that part. :)
Moving right along. I am not doing the roofing or ceiling. Just helping where I can.

Shade coverage is pretty much exactly how I had marked it out. Still a lot of work to do.

Had to run into the city to help my aunt who's old Hilux broke down. The timing belt was old and jumped a few teeth. I offset the timing to get it to run. Got running well enough and followed her to a shop to get it fixed. On my way back near her house I stopped at this local little nursery and picked up a few more plants for the pool bar area. This gal grows some really nice plants.

Roof on and starting on the side and front fascia. The shade coverage is just perfect. Covers the shallow end for the little kids and non sun enjoyers, but still leaves the deep end open to sun.
Biggest challenge right now is vacuuming up all the metal shavings and weld splatter that falls in the pool. I have to vacuum it out every 3 or so hours.
Looks like the boys done a good job. Got what you planned on, that should keep the usual suspects quiet from banging on about chicken heads and how they can't complete such a project. Gotta take my hat of to you stumpy,
Thanks BLD. Project going along pretty well. They got the side fascia frame all welded and in place.
To your comment about Thais and people whinging about not completing a job or do shit work, the key is having a firm design and plan and of course sourcing or knowing the right people. My wife is also pretty savvy on this stuff and can be tenacious. Her uncle is a really good Fab guy which is nice.
Should be able to see that TV without all the glare finally too.
Nice selection of flora Stumpy
The roof looks good, Stumpy. I don't blame you for wanting more shade. Beautiful shrubs and good beer!
Just add some floaties, a sound system and I'll be right over. :)
Seriously though, my dad had a pool for a long time, and it was a gathering place for some of my family every summer. He took it down last year as he felt like it was too much work for him, getting old and by himself. So... missing the outdoor pool thing. Indoor pools aren't the same imo. Good luck cleaning up all the mess.
Thanks MM. Its moving right along. I am more of a spectaor at this point as my arc welding skills are not even close to my wife's uncle.
Have both already in place. :). On the fence about a spinning disco ball HAHA
I have lived my entire life around some sort of water. Whether pools, the ocean or big lakes. All of them meant gatherings of friends and family for BBQ's, drinking and good fun and laughs. I couldn't imagine not having a pool here. Nowadays the maintenance is a cake walk and really doesn't take much work or chems. Just a few bags of salt. I could never do an indoor pool. Just seems unnatural.
Yeah I am staying on top of it, especially the debris that flies in the pool. Ung ( My wifes uncle) is really doing his best to avoid crap falling in the pool but its a construction job so it will happen. :)

Front Fascia back on.

Right side fascia framing in place.
Ung and Bao still have to install the ceiling underneath. I have white sheetmetal. Not doing the sheetrock. Waste of time and money over the water section.
The fascias look great. A nice finishing touch.
Progress on the project continues. I was busy off with my wife and her Gal friend late yesterday. Her new house build was done and she needed help moving her furniture around..

Ung is welding the framing support for the ceiling.
Looks great!

^ Thanks Cyrille. Been busy project and relentless heat.

First piece was a lot of cutting to fit Fascia bars. 2nd was a cut around the pole. I have both fans running to help keep them cool. Handling sheetmetal is a pain in the ass.
I went and picked up material to cover the transition from the white sheet metal to the sheet rock.

Well pretty much done. Waiting on material from BKK. Tomorrow we all paint.
