Was digging through some old pics looking for a plumbing schematic and decided to post up some before, in process pics of our house build. Brings back some good memories

The 72 year old Teak house my wife and sisters grew up in. It was upgraded many times over the years as the original teak pillars got old and they added cement to support the upper dwelling. It was a 2 bdr, one bath about 1100 sq ft ( 102M sq)

Like Mendy, they had a catfish cement pond and my FIL used to catch fish out of the Wang river and keep in there until ready to eat.

This was a view of the land next to my wife's original house that we purchased later

    Fast forward......

Let the games begin. We bought the adjoining lot and the 2 lots in front that had old cinder block houses on them and one was vacant, the other was being lived in but the owners took the money and moved. One we bought for 100K baht, the other was 150k baht. The open land to the left was 380K baht.

Looking down our soi. We bought the lot on right and left.

Down came the old water holding tank that my FIL and his father built.

A portion of the old Teakwood saved from the house tear down that was later used for all the internal and front double doors, wall trimming. The rest we sold.

    Build begins

Portion of the build process. after foundation and pillars poured ( Seems like such a long time ago)

Coming together. The house in the front was later torn down, that is where my FIL lived while the house was being built. I also planted the hedges around the perimeter of the property to get them started. 275 plants.

    Driveway being paved

House and carpark done and detached kitchen in the far back almost done and sod laid

My shop done and wife trying to nick my spot.

    Fast forward to today......

Landscaping all done and maturing now

All seems like such a long time ago. We started the build in 2014.

Beautiful day today. Woke up and was socked in with dense fog. Wife took FIL to the hospital for a check up as yesterday he was walking and fell down. I thought he had a heart attack but he laid down for a bit then I got him up to his hammock area and he relaxed. I closely checked up on him all night.

So with the house mine and just me and the mutts, we (well I) decided time to do some work and clean up the black mold.

Only way I have found to get the mold out and off cement is power wash.

After the power wash I finished up cleaning the last window set with screens. Dogs found that when I work, it is very relaxing for them...fkrs...

    Long beans doing very well.

My plants around the little pond out front have taken off very nice. I plan on growing that vine plants along the brick.

Had to take a beer break for lunch.

And just after finishing my beer, Kerry showed up with my 2 new saw horses. Yeah I know, I could easily make some wood ones. I like these because they are collapsible and easily portable.

I love looking back over old stuff, gives you perspective sometimes when you are being a bit hard on yourself or down. Nice build JPPR

Nice thread , keep the pictures coming
You have very good taste in architecture style.
We have a similar home, same color scheme, only a bit smaller. (It's only the two of us) and three big bedrooms is plenty.
Though Next house I build will be ground level. Though I don't have any problem heading upstairs (I am 65)
I am beginning to feel it. I try to keep in good shape and active (bicycle almost every day a few Ks) , but I can see how in 10-15 years it might start becoming a problem

I like the work horses. I have been looking for something like that. Where did you get them? or Kerry got them.
Throw a couple of 2x4s it the ends a piece of plywood and you got a workbench.

Let me say I gave a lot of thought to our design and the idea was if I couldn't pull myself upstairs I can easily convert the down stairs laundry room or family room into a living space. It was all planned in the event that my FIL couldn't do it or that my Father wanted to come live with us from the US. Underneath is an open book and can be made into any living arrangement.

Actually BB, I have a friend in California who has them and said they are top notch. I started searching around originally on Amazon figuring I would have to bite the bullet and then asked the missus to see if she could find them here and apparently she found them on Lazada.

What search term did she use? I used "Work horses" and got something, I guess I need to ask the wife to type a search term in Thai. I find that we get better results with Thai search terms.
But I was kind of hoping to get the order in under her radar. If you know what I mean LOL

Thanks Topper and David. The move to Thailand wasn't without its challenges years back. The house design with my wife and then the build was extremely fun and rewarding when done.

All photos have been with a version of Samsung S series phones. The new S22 takes incredibly nice high resolution pictures and the zoom feature is impressive.
