Those same locomotives were used here at sugar mills as well.

There's a famous architect that turned some old train cars into hi-so hotel suites in Thailand. One of my students was the interior designer on the project. They (the architect and interior designer) also did The Slate resort in Phuket..

Mate, it really isn't. :)
Honestly, I was in the UK for 6 months this year and not one person mentioned NFL in my time there.
The fundamental problem your sport has is that it's shite. :)
Like I said before, ask Somchai at the end of your street about sport and he'll give you the answer: there's only one sport the world is interested in, and it aint that boring shit one country watches. :)
Maybe in American themed restaurants were obese Brits frequent to eat bin lid sized plate fulls of sickly sweet meat .
The NFL is on a big screen behind the bar at a volume that drowns out the sounds of chowing customers.
Thankfully these establishments are few and far between.
I read a great book last year called The Coddling of the American Mind by the erudite and inestimably scholarly Jonathon Haidt
It argues that current over-protection of people from having their feelings hurt, among other things, is creating a generation of wussy pussies who don't have the gumption to overcome life's natural adversities and navigate a social world of diverse opinion and is damaging the western psyche.
I have read all his 3 books twice and they are all rippers.
American "football" is fucking awful but suitable for people with limited intelligence.
Perfect for the US. :)
Europe has no interest.
Asia has no interest.
Africa has no interest.
Central and South America have no interest.
Because it's shit. :)
And they want to play proper football.
OK...Back on track. Enjoy your intelligent soccer game. :)

Loaded up the ATV and headed south a bit to connect with my expat buddy to do some riding. He is a dirt bike rider and has logged a lot of trails and rivers and so on in his area to go ride.

After blazing along through trails and fields up in the mountains we took a break.

We trekked around many really nice lakes and ponds. Amazing how some people live way out in the middle of nowhere with really no means to get to town except on a tractor and maybe a scooter through mud. Most of the roads were totally washed out and many still have mud and water which was fun to ride through.

It was a long fun day. We crossed many a creek and went through some mud stretches which were a close call to getting stuck by both of us. I definitely put the ATV to the abuse test as most of the trails are for dirt bikes. No carnage but made it a mud mess.
Have to check on a few things after the abuse I put it through. I have some good videos from the GoPro. This morning was power washing it all off as well as my truck.
More countryside ruined :)
Bet he had fun doing it, though!
So Stumps, how is the build quality and functionality of that Chinese quad compared to the traditional Japanese brands? Just curious.
Been a busy few days around the Ponderosa.

Took a ride up into the mountains on my Wave scouting out new areas to ride. Sure nice weather and peacefully quiet up here.
Hey Snubs. Honestly, I am extremely impressed but that said, you have to look how it is sourced and made. So years ago when I was duck and goose hunting my first ATV was a Suzuki Eiger 400 to go back and forth to the the blinds. A few years later I upgraded to a Yamaha King Quad 700 cc ATV as many of us went back wood turkey hunting as well and the trails were pretty technical. So I do have some history to be able to compare. Prior to buying the CFMoto I did a reasonable amount research. I found a shop in Mississippi that deals with them exclusively and called them up. They also have a YT following with tons of dyno pulls on both the ATV and the side by sides and they are quite good. While CFmoto is Chinese owned, like almost all cars, trucks, utility sport stuff nowadays they are built with sourced components globally. The motors are made by KTM and assembled in Canada, the EFI system is Bosch from Germany, Disc brakes and hardware are Japanese etc.
Since owning it, I have really abused it generally speaking. I do not baby my stuff, I buy it, I use it. I have 4 or 5 Go Pro vids sinking it in mud, driving through rivers, over rocks and at high speeds on open dirt roads. I have to say it is quite a solid ATV and moreover comes fully equipped where as a lot of the Japanese models all the extra's are add ons and jack up the price pretty fast. The 590cc motor has a lot of grunt through the mud and the new EVT Dry belt system has worked without a problem.
While they are a bit more expensive to get one here due to import tax, its still a bargain for what you get and what you can do with it. Only downside is there is only a few dealers in Thailand so if you are a not a mechanical type that can do their own service or repairs, then it could be a problem. While it comes with a 3 year unlimited factory warranty, It could be a challenge to get it fixed unless you want to haul it to the BKK store.
My 2 baht worth. :)
Yeah its hard to pin point all the sourcing. I read a host of reviews and all most kept saying is Chinese this and Chinese that but when you look underneath it and then dig a bit deeper you find that so much is sourced then assembled and not all are assembled in China. So at this point its a nice ride and very comparable to the Can An and Polaris ATVs. Its comfortable ergonomically, body panels are painted, not impregnated like some other brands use. It has 2Wd Low and High, 4Wd Low and High and a front diff lock feature. The new ones now have better tires to withstand punctures. I haven't tried the winch yet but the group I follow in Mississippi have loads of Vids with them pulling other ATVs out with them so they appear to be good. They sell a bunch of aftermarket parts like EFI tune ups and Clutch kits. I will pick up some "Extras" on my next trip to the US early next year to see my Pops. I am going to change the motor oil and diff fluids next week and probably take off the EVT belt cover to check it out. I really did trash it hard when I was last out.
Cheers Snubs :)
Well last night had a big rogue storm blow in. Temp dropped from 34c to 23c in about 30 minutes and with that came 40mph swirling winds blowing shit everywhere. Then the Lightning was right on us as it flashed and then the Thunder damn near blew the windows out then came the 40 minute down pour which my weather station showed the rainfall to be 3.5cm. I am OK with heavy rain and lightning and Thunder but high winds always blow shit off people's roof or tarps then didn't secure. As Ron White the comedian said, "It's not that the wind is blowing, it's what the wind is blowin"
Lots of bird nests on the ground this morning. Broken eggs and dead chicks. Nature's way.
Shaping up to have another one roll in as I type this. Sky getting dark, breeze picking up and Thunder off in the distance.
Beer 30. :)
Few things better than watching a storm roll in in the tropics with a beer in hand. :)
It can get pretty intense for sure. And they can come out of nowhere when least expected. I had an example of that in southern Lao when our electrical superintendent was struck by a bolt of lightning and killed , poor bustard, while erecting a radio antenna necessary for a mining pit that had no radio coverage. Myself and my department had been up that mountain for months and the last couple of holes we drilled were man portable drill rigs. Meaning we had to carry them up there physicly, I think we had about 80 lao blokes for this. It was a [at][at][at][at] of a job. then mining asked us to just go another 800m up the mountain to where they wanted the radio tower. Faark. There was only vehicle access to a certain point then it was a 1.5 hour walk to the antenna site. Everytime I see lightning I think of that afternoon
