Wild orchard is blooming. We picked it out of the jungle and attached it to a mango tree in the garden two years ago.

One RAI is about 1600 sqr meters, you can grow a lot of stuff on that small parcel of land up here, the young trees are cheap to buy so experimenting on how they will grow is a low cost, For sure we all want to plant and succeed but sometimes we have to rip out a plant that can't produce and place in a new one.

I like the smell of fresh mango in the morning.

I was at a conundrum about where to post this, but i think it really suits the Northern Thai Woman part of the thread.
    Cooking.
As the young lady suggested, Thai women like to take care of their husband(loyal husband).
I have been with my missus for a good 20 years now, we have had some good scraps over the years.
Never have i been left with an empty stomach because of an argument.
She will stick a plate of food in my face and grunt "mmgra kin" even though she knows that I can take care of myself. and that can go on for over a week.
I met my wife when i was in my mid 30's and so was she, so I can't give advice on old codgers like me hooking up with 30ish year old Thai women, but I would expect the result to be the same in any country and maybe even worse if the culture and language are different.
Not to deter anyone over 50 from finding a lovely life partner in Thailand, But the advise i would give is to get your rocks off in southern Thailand for a few weeks and then gather your brains back from down there, go back home and think about it.

Sad that a Thailand forum gets little to no exploration of the retirement threads.
After all that has gone on over the last 18 months, can tell you with honest certainty that no business in my area closed down, infact building is booming, we adjust and persavier. Just a little hint of what happens up here when a flood comes through, move the shit upstairs and go fishing.

^ That flooding moved over here tonight.

Do you know what they're fishing for? (don't say fish. )

Do they share the lot by 10, or is it every man for himself?

This was a funny experience for me back in about 2010, Was raining all night and we woke up early with all the noise of voices, went outside and saw the people running around moving stuff to higher ground, we got dressed and went to the cousins house that was close to the floodwater, helped to move stuff upstairs, then i had a look at the water on the road, I thought "THATS NOT COMING UP" I put a stone on the "tide mark" and after half hour was positive the water was receding, showed them and went home for beer and breakfast.

Just like anywhere there are hardcore rural areas that takes a special kind of person to want to leg it out there. I ride by many on my motorcycle and there is no way I could swing it. Then there are numerous areas in between offering beautiful mountain roads and lakes, great food, no traffic, numerous creature comforts and for the most part extremely nice folks. A big plus right now is during these Covid times it is still pretty normal where most the time people are not wearing masks unless they go into stores and malls and out of either rules or courtesy, wear one. Years back my wife and I thought living by a beach was the ticket. Problem that we encountered after living in 2 areas was with most beach areas they are typically inundated with loads of tourists which leads to inflated prices, continuous scamming, terrible traffic. We felt it much easier to go visit a beach area for a week or so and return back home.
You make the region sound quite idyllic. I had no ideas there were 'winding mountain roads and small lakes'. That I missed about Canada when I lived those many years down in Songkhla. I had the opportunity to join friends for a trip to an annual 'famous' flower show in Chiang Mai but passed on both offers. This I know regret. I wish I would have explored the north, maybe even taught up there a couple of years. I was always thinking that Chaing Mai had over a million people but now I read 125,000 which is actually a small town. I don't care to rough it with chickens and cows but I might enjoy to live in Chiang Mai for a short spell.

There are lots of roads that just go up and round the mountains here all the way to Lamphun. Roads here are actually very nice. I have done a few YT vids of some of my rides and posted them on TD. One place about 45 minutes from us is a beautiful moto ride and a few quick roads off the main road you can be at a lake where you can rent a houseboat for the day or night. I have been there numerous times. I hear the fishing is pretty descent.

As for CM, I am not sure why it was named the "Most" beautiful city for a bike ride. Guess it would depend on ones criteria. That said, I do enjoy the mountain ranges surrounding CM and have been up to a few mountain top resorts with some 4 wheeler guys and their wives and I would love to ride my moto on a few. Would have to make it a few day trek but have found the mountains where I live to be just as nice, just not as high but far less traffic.

Perhaps Chiang Mai is as far as most bicycle tourists get.
