Getting a Video Camera in Chiang Rai

M'Sahib is doing a yoga teachers course in Chiang Rai at the moment, and would like to video some of the tuition she's being given. She's started to video using her phone, however it's a Samsung Note 5 which doesn't have expandable storage (my thoughts were just to get a large SD card, but that won't work).

Options are to get a reasonable video camera such as a Sony or GoPro even, with a large SD card in the area.

Does anyone know of or could recommend a. a camera, and b. an outlet in the Chiang Rai area.

She's there for 3 weeks, and whilst it's quite an intensive course, I believe Sundays are free.

    Central.

Much the same as Central Malls all over.

    Plenty of shops selling everything.

Big C, on the other side of the highway from Central has a reasonable IT, TV, electrical section upstairs.

Both are open on Sundays. Central opens at 11.00

We order loads of stuff from Lazada and they're good but Kellys who do their transportation can take their time getting up here.

We're slightly off the beaten track but 5 days is about norm.

Yes, Lazada was my first thought, as I've ordered quite a lot of kit from them. However, their delivery whilst usually within 3 days or so, can be erratic some times.

Further dialogue with M'Sahib, and she's loath to go out and buy something she'll probably only use the once (unlike me, I'd just fix it). However, rush of blood to the head, and I've suggested to her that she opens a YouTube account, then upload the videos to that before deleting them from her phone.

Thanks for the suggestions anyway folks.

A photo of M'Sahib stretching during the course today:

Yes, that's about right unless it's coming from over seas.
    Anyway, that's off post.

Not mine, I'm at home in Phuket, taking care of the zoo and watering plants.

6 people on this particular course. Another Thai lady from BKK, and 3 other ladies from Canada, Australia, and Italy. Sole male participant from Japan.

Agreed, however M'Sahib isn't a videographer and hadn't thought doing any recording prior to starting the course and realising how useful it would be in the future.

The uploading to YouTube solution is going well, using the iPad she has with her for.recording and uploading. I think she's made 25 so far, and that's in the first week.

Depends how much you want to spend. SJ range are much cheaper than Gopro, longer battery and have a picture quality good enough for most.

I have the Hero 4 and it is boxed most of the time.

If you want something better, the DJI Osmo + is great because it has a gimbal so the picture is silky smooth. Via Virtual Studio it has follow me mode which is useful. Stick it on a tripod and the camera will follow you.

    SJ from 3k plus
    Gopro 10k plus
    DJI about 30k

We have 2 GoPro's, both Sessions (the 4 and 5, 5 being better for it's 4k and voice activation) which I use when cycling. The need was purely for this particular circumstance of her wanted to capture some elements of the course she's doing, and not having enough èmpty capacity either on her Note 5 or iPad. The YouTube workaround has proved successful however.

    Cheers for the advice though.
