    Chaing Rai Immigration Visas

I had to go to Chiang Rai Immigration yesterday to pick up my letter authorizing me to purchase a vehicle or condo. (Which originated with Mae Sai Immigration), While there I casually asked if they offered visa renewal services for Retirement Visas.

Big incredulous smiles all around the office. Yes, every Monday and Wednesday was the reply. Why do you ask, he offered. I was informed by both Mae Sai and Chiang Saen Immigration that the only place I could renew my retirement visa was Mae Sai.

More laughter. Apparently there is some con going on between Mae Sai and other local Immigration offices.

Next time I renew I'll drive the shorter distance to Chiang Rai and not Mae Sai.

Hope this is not old news for you locals.

I like MaeSai so I usually drive up there without needing much of an excuse.
I've always used MaeSai immigration and they have got to know me there but had to make a trip to the Chiang Rai office last week and was impressed with the friendly and helpful service.
I'm surprised to hear they only renew retirement visas on Mondays and Wednesdays.
And the end of the fight is a tombstone white with the name of the late deceased,
And the epitaph drear: "A Fool lies here who tried to hustle the East.

Yup, that's what the Sgt. Maj. said. I also did my 90 day report there as well, any day for that. Young guy Sgt. Major speaks excellent English.
Mae Sai is further from my location than is Chiang Rai, as well Mae Sai always has a ton of Burmese swarming about and inadequate parking.

my god foreigners at an immigration office,I think you might reflect on "swarming".
I have never seen a Myanmar citizen inside mae Sai immigrration upon dozens of vists however their presence would not upset me personally ,my wife is equally racist and regards anyone in a dhoti as 'kek'

I guess were all equal in the grave
