'Didane', (not 100% with the spelling) close to the Sofitel, now Pullman, has a european chef. Frequented regularly by farangs including myself on occasions. It's situated on 'nightclub avenue' just round the corner from the Pullman. Good and inexpensive menu.

Also 'The Greenleaf' restaurant on the airport road has NZ steaks. Aircon, quiet atmosphere but a liitle out the way if you wish to have a few drinks somewhere else afterwards.

Isn't the whole of Khon Kaen a farang place nowadays?
Anyhooter the very brief time I was there. Only ate at the Sofitel (Pullman). The breakfast buffet at the time was absolutely brilliant!

Presumably the new Santi Golf club would be able to knock out decent food like Pizzas, fish 'n chips and pepper steak if its sister club in Chiang Rai is anything to go by.

Went to Didines last week while in KK. Amazing beef tenderloin dinner for just 200 bt. A friend had the beef steak for 179 and was also delicious.

I was really taken by surprise at the tenderness of the beef because it didnt taste like any kind of tenderizer had been use. Also I ordered medium and oh my god it was actually perfectly cooked.

Besides that the owner is a french who must had been a saucier because there is a separate sauce menu of about 60 sauces that cost something like 10 bt extra for most sauces to put on any dish you want.

I wish there was one here in Chiang mai..

DiDine was always my favourite. Franck is a top bloke... If I remember correctly he was indeed a sauciere. Then after dinner there is always someone there for a game of pool too. Oh and the staff always friendly and efficient.

Just found out that Kosa Steak House near Pullman has closed for good, and a new Sushi place will open there soon.
Tried GreenLeaf before and wasn't impressed.

Any other restaurant with imported tender beef / Steaks in Khon Kaen ?

^ Thanks for the tip, you are correct. Kosa steak house are now in the Beer garden just opposite TukCom. Good steaks/beef - live band - sport on big screen.
Go for the premium steaks though (B600). The standard steaks for B200 is anything than tender.

Pomodoro, a Italian restaurant with Pizza and pasta / spaghetti, can be found on the soi just before Pullman hotel. Huge portions and delicious. Open 4:30pm - 11:00pm

Last visit to Pomodoro, and it will be my last, their then puppy pissed on the indoor floor area, was picked up and coddled by the owner's wife, and the puddle left there to later spread by natural traffic. The dog's older now and wouldn't do it again, but it sets me thinking about kitchen standards.

I would rather visit a restaurant where if a dog did piss on the floor, they would mop it up smartish and not leave it to be trampled and spread, princess.

Still, leaving it to spread may reasonably reflect their hygiene standards, and your own outrage that there may be something wrong with leaving piss on the floor says much about your own.

Just imagine the shit that is on you shoes before you even walk in a restaurant, a puppy pissed on the floor in the pay area or the out door eating area?.

    - Owners dog never runs free, owners mother always has it chained - outdooor
(when I've been there 8-10 times now in Nov). Never a problem.
    - neighbor has a puppy that sometime run away, might be this dog you've seen.
    - for the kitchen standard, I easy get stomach problem but no problem whatsoever with Pomodoro's food. Infact the food taste great and the service is nice, helpful and friendly.
Example: I needed a transport back home, the taxi meter central didn't answer. Staff and owners wife was on their phones for 15 minutes to help me get home. And since I already paid my bill, I was given something to drink while I waited - complimentary. That I call service.

More places with western food ?

I stated an opinion based on an experience, which to me reflects the owner's attitude towards hygiene and cleanliness. If that does not suit you that's your problem not mine. But I know when my pups pissed at home it would be mopped and disinfected within minutes of discovery. You are welcome to your standards, but please leave me to mine.

As for the shit on my shoes, or the crap that goes on in many if not most restaurant kitchens, or airborne filth everywhere, none of this relevant to the discussion. Having crap on my shoes should not cause me to enjoy or even tolerate fresh piss being trampled across a restaurant floor.

Couldnt really care if the pup pissed on you, I am just trying to work out what a bit of puppys piss outside has to do with their kitchen, or are you just a asshole that likes complaining.
Like I said Keda your an asshole to start running down someones restaurant because a puppy pissed on the outside floor, as far as I can see he runs a good clean restaurant and had nothing but good food and service from them since they opened.

I am sure you will get over it one day princess. Also urine is sterile when leaving the bladder so I would guess there is more crap growing in your mouth than in a pint of puppys piss.
