    Food Containers-Where to get them?

We will be returning to Ubon next year to start a bakery and food shop. Last time we were there we wasted a lot of time trying to run down vendors in Bangkok for packaging and preserve bottles. Most of the old retail outlets seem to be in the Sapon Kao area on the edge of Chinatown. Does anyone know of suppliers of bottles for food stuffs and canning (glass and plastic), boxes and food packaging that are reliable to order from and have shipped to Ubon on a regular basis? Even though we lived in Bangkok for ten years in the old days and knew it well (that is as was in the old days) we can't get down there for business and actually hit more than two sites a day trying to find stuff--like spending two hours to get to a bakery supplier found on the web and finding out that it is a fabricating shop for dough cutters only (pounded out by teenage boys with ballpeen hammers). Appreciate and suggestions or dialog on the subject of food and bakery suppliers in Bangkok and Isan.

Best bet for glass containers is to visit Ocean Glass, they have or can import just about anything you need... the "Mason Jars" sold here in thailand are Chinese shit and about worthless for canning and almost impossible to purchase new lid seals.... so that means one time useage... sucks.

There is another shop near the overpass of Soi Suk. 103 or 105 on Srinakarin road going towards Central from the Macro/Carrefour area, don't remember, but they have a large display of containers in their window.... don't know the intended usage though.

    Good luck

    Thank you for your response

Thanks for offering a response. Went out Sukhumvit soi 103 way five years ago looking for some bakery supply place we never found (our cab driver never found). When I first landed there in the late 70's I was living on the klong at Suk. 71 and Petchburi, I used to walk that area out towards the 103 direction all day just to be out in the country.
We bookmarked Ocean glass. We're really interested in getting a good line on disposable containers and "mason jars" or standard preserve bottles and lids for jams and sauces to retail out of our shop. No expecting to need large volumes right away but not wanting to trek down to BKK or Khan Kaen every month, would like to get a supply pipeline by truck or train from a reliable wholesale supplier.

On Srinakarin road going towards Bangna Trat hwy from the vicinity of Carrefour or Macro, ( on the other side of the road) you go over Sukumvit 103/5 - can't remember which, on the left just prior to the overpass there is a bakery supply shop, yellow building.

If you stay left and not use the overpass, the container shop is about 100 - 150 yds down on the same side of the street.

EDIT: forgot to mention that inter provincial shipping is easy here and relatively cheap, plus the express buses usually do freight as well.

    Thanks again

    Thanks again,
I forgot about the buses, which most of the Mom & Pops do use for cargo.
