Like most major towns many have fitness parks. Udon Thani has three of these and the one featured here is the Nong Prajak Park, which is the largest of them. It is situated about 2 to 3 kms from the centre of town and has many ascess roads as can be seen from the map
I entered the park from the Thesa Road entrance. There is ample parking around the lake, but would presume that from 6pm onwards when all arrive for the walk and jog etc it would then be very crowded.
Some fairly good size fish in the lake and a couple of places where you can buy bits to feed em. Took the walking track to start with which was very pleasant, gardens were fairly well maintained with a fair number of topiary shrubs, the main theme seeming to be rabbits. If taking the walking path to do a complete circuit would probably be about 1.5 km
There are a few statues dotted around the park as can be seen from the above photo.
There are two suspension bridges in the park and and this shot is looking towards one of them with, I think, the Udon hospital in the background.
Opportunity for a couple of photos at the other bridge. The old git himself
and another of my companion
Walked on toward the main area where they have aerobic evenings but we were too early for that, another shot of the old fellow, hairline really receding now, probably be bald by next year
It was here that the batteries on me camera gave up the ghost and needed recharging, so will have to add more pictures when I visit Udon again.
The outer track round the lake will be for the more ardent fitness fans. I would hazard a guess that it is about 3.5 kms around the outside track, it is all nicely marked off on 100 metre distances so ideal for those that want to jog a 100 metres then walk a 100 metres. Alongside the Thesa road there are a lot of massage stalls, painting stall and fast foods places set up from 6pm. They were just beginning to set up when we were there, price for a massage seemed to average out at 100 baht per hour.
There are a few restaurants to North of the lake alongside the Thesa road. We tried one of the Thai ones which was fairly good. Unfortunately no report as the camera was flat, and was marred by one very large obnoxious loud mouthed american, who sat at the table next to us.
My view of the lake, good, ideal for a mid afternoon stoll.
As an aside there are a number of public toilets dotted around the lake, which I understand all open for the evening. If caught short during the day the only one open is just beside the aerobics arena, and was clean, usual charge of 3 baht.
