Just come back from Big C in Udon Thani and I was surprised by the large number of farangs wandering about.
A couple of things struck me tho. They all seemed to be about the same age early 50s and were all identically dressed in shorts and scruffy wife beater singlets. I thought I'd had a bump on the head and wandered into Pattaya.
Was hoping to stay at the Irish Clock, but it's full (as per usual according to udonmap), so I'll be staying at the Presidents hotel for a few days around Xmas. 900 baht including breakfast.
Any info about that place? Near the inlaws, I'd prefer to be closer in town, but...
Yes. It's miles from anywhere. You really should've booked at the Charoensri Grand or even Top Mansion.Originally Posted by Bexar County Stud

I stayed at Top mansion last week prior to going to Aust, unbelievable bargain I thought, spotless, decent sized room and bed, Cable TV. fridge at 350 Bt PN.
^ Agreed, however the reception is run by some of the dumbest people I've ever come across (I used to visit Sunderland often and they take some beating).
My group had three rooms for 2 nights all paid for in advance. Every time one of us went to hand in/retrieve a room key we were asked to either pay for the rooms again or told that we had to check-out. They would also ring the room enquiring as to whether we were staying for another night (which of course we were as we'd already paid for them) and if not we had to check-out before noon.
The guy at night then couldn't find my key, despite it being clearly visible in the room box and one of only 2 or 3 keys remaining at that time.
Whilst being trivial, it did get annoying having to produce our receipts on more than one occasion to the same girl to prove we had paid.
I usually stay at the Karin Hotel, plenty of parking and only 2/3 blocks away from the main centre. Transport always available.
Still only 432 baht (excluding breakfast) for an ok room (double or twin)
2 lifts and pleasant/efficient female staff.
However, i did like the look of the Clocks accommodation so may enquire as to availablity prior to my next visit. (nowt to do with the Guinness of course)
The thought crossed my mind mate, but after an extensive review of what was on offer, I decided to return to my room alone.
Not that my old lady believes that, but there ya go.
Why wouldn't she believe that?Originally Posted by peterpan
