Things to do if your stuck at Nong Khai Bus Station for and hour or 2.
Nong Khai bus station is just off of Prajak Road pretty much in the center of town, the bus station itself hasn't got anything going for it and is surrounded by shop houses selling Thai food and poxy seaweed flavoured crisps.
From Nong Khai you can get coaches to Vientiane (Vientiane to Nong Khai, the cheap bus), Bangkok and all the places between, or Rayong and all the places between.
Nong Khai Bus Station, pretty grim isn't it.
Samlors at Nong Khai bus station waiting to fleece the tourists.
Round the back of the bus station there is a fresh food market, I assume it is a morning market as it was nearly empty when I took this picture in the late afternoon.
Also round behind the market is Wat Poo Chai (Nong Khai Wat Poo Chai) (Nong Khai Wat Poo Chai).
Better off wandering out the front entrance onto Prajak Road, turning right you will come to an internet shop and going a bit further to the junction of Pra Sai Road you will find some food stalls, they have some good stuff there.
BBQ Issan food, could almost be English sausages couldn't they.
KFC chicken.
Laabs and curries all bagged up and ready to go.
Pork BBQ on a skewer, this was about a foot long with loads of meat, only 10baht each.
A massive great big piece of chicken which cost 30baht, in Pattaya they cost 50baht.
Going back towards the bus station I came across these rice cakes? Got to admit I have no idea if they are cakes, they are being sun dried, not sure if the trainers are there to add flavour.
