Quite near the train station, its called Stargio's. Nice food and wine in there. Someone opened another one up on the main drag last year but that lasted about 6 months.Originally Posted by Nawty

built two houses on our plot...one for Granmaw....missus arranged builder....fairly big family her's so plenty of contacts regarding who's who in the "good" tradesman arena. SHE bought the materials on an as required basis...ie...the builder said I need this or that.....she gave the Ok to go ahead and the price...so no cheap n nasty short-cut materials used...very few probs after near 5 years now...the odd leak in the roof but easily plugged...if we've had any repairs to me made has been almost immediate that someone's on the scene and getting on with it...missus again...she's da man....heh...
live in Nong Sarai...just on the edge of the main town...nice n quiet....mostly....
far as inet goes...from the stone-age dial up we had not so long ago now have 3.1 MB's Maxnet Premium account and we do get that speed...no capping...that's why paying for a premium account....isn't that expensive...sometimes think it's TOO fast...certainly don't need any faster and fairly reliable....cept atm...they're working on "improving" the service.....must mean even MORE BW....s'pose depends on yur remoteness from the actual town and environs...DSL lines dependent on distance from the telephone hub.
nice cosy town.....it is a market town so lotsa people coming and going from surroundig areas...farms and such-like. then you'll experience the usual overloaded roads of mo-cy's n trucks but really not an issue...close to Khao Yai National Park which is the local tourist attraction....both Thai and Foreigners...
I don't get into town much but have ordered in from various restaurants....Thai ofc...German...Swiss...Pizza's naturally and there are plenty of others to suit I hear.
couple hours drive to the new airport..I won't spell it....save me embarrassment...and therefore BKK jus a little further....can make it to Pattaya in 4 hours....eastern ring road and down the mo-way... if yur pining for the bar-gurl fjords...luvely plumage...heh....
one can but try it out.....stay a month....ennuf hotels...get the feel....and good luck....
Or to save yourself the trip, just nip down soi Toyota for a bit of slap and tickle, you can't miss it, its next to the Toyota garage obviously. But this is a small town and you know how quick the Thai grapevine is. You'll arrive home to a mrs foaming at the mouth with the intention of removing your testicles.Originally Posted by gurney
My brother in law is chief of police in Wan Nam Keiw. He's been buying up land for years without any papers, then fencing it off and applying for a Chonot. I think he has somethink like 120 rai in various places there. He is in the process of opening a small resort ( there are loads in the area ).
The place is really popular with Thai tourists as the weather and scenary are great. Plenty of reastraunts there, he took us to a fairly decent "falang" type one once but most are mainly Thai.
Don't know about the internet, Gym ect but I don't get the inpression that the infrustructure is that good. I've only really stoped in Pak Chong while driving through, but I assume you should be able to get most things there.

I have more than the average number of arm and legs
Your brother in law is very rich man ! We are lucky to have bought a small piece of land a few years back because we definitively wouldn't be able to afford it now. For some small parcels near the main road, the asking price is now close to 1M Baht / rai !!! And for a land that hasn't chanote.
The things we regret most is the things we didn't do
Yep, although he has'nt got Chnots on all of the plots. The plot he is opening a resort on is just off a main road, 4.5 rai. I think he paid about 350,000 bhat about 5 years ago. Applied for the chanot and now would sell it for 4.5 million.......not badOriginally Posted by Perota

So where is the best pub in Pak Chong for a night out ??
Which one has the cutest lesbian waitresses ??
Where is his resort exactly ? Thai Samaki ?
Chanote is a big issue here. According to the last update, "our man" in Bangkok is working hard at it but we need to wait for a minimum of 2 more years, and the upgrade will be progressive, through an intermediary land tittle. Other say any local upgrade won't be possible without a national revision of land tittles. Basically nobody know anything, just a lot of talk ...
In the mean time we're enjoying one of the best place in Thailand but with the number of visitors coming during some long week end, not a secret place anymore
