There are a lot worse places to live and I don't really think it deserves the negativity I have read on this thread

I,ll drink to that, I dont live there ,i live in vientiane but get to udon a fair bit, got a few mates living in udon and i look forward to the monthly or so trip to udon, we mostly go for the shopping, its more varied than vientiane and you need only go to 1 place to get everything, and parkings easy, unlike vientiane, Plenty of good tucker to be had also, I usually frequent nutty park or occasionaly the cowshed, Heading over there on thursday as it happens, Udons quite liveable i reckon

It's the other way round in my experience. Udon is full of old farts.

When I passed through Udon I was quite taken back by the Old fellas that where getting around the place.

Foking hell, the hospital must have a never ending income catering to farangs having heart attacks and strokes.

Add the massive amounts of piss they where consuming its gota be a quick end to any sort of good health.

Not for me I'm afraid. I had the flu when I got there and decided to get the fuk out of there as the scene was quite depressing.

Not at all stimulating looking at some of these guys carting around there tatted up bar scanks.

Missed out on meeting my mate Peterpan though.

If you leave a day early and come to Udon on Sunday, you can have a nice 8 hour drive to Chiang Mai the next day. I tend not to go out on a school night (Monday is my Sunday, if that makes sense?).
